Something is poorly wired. if someone did work on it before this problem started, have it looked at by them and see if they screwed it up. if this came up on its own, get it checked out by a ford dealer as they will have the proper wiring diagrams to fix your problem.

I had that problem with my 2005 FX4 turned out to be a coil on #6 cylinder I replaced the coil my self and the light went out coil was $58.00.These trucks are sensitive to water in the gas you may want to add gas line antifreeze or isopropyl alcohol to your gas every other tank to displace any water which may be getting in there.

I am going to ask a dumb question....do you have it in neutral and the brake mashed when you switch to 4WD LOW? I believe that is what my book says to do.

behind the passenger side kick panel is an inertia switch, press down on the red button which will reset it,if it doesnt start listen to hear the fuel pump

Running tank one empty could have picked up **** from the bottom of the tank and clogged the in line filter that feeds the engine. It should be located under the truck on the left inner frame rail around the back of the cab area. Replace it don't try to clean it out it will just clog again. They are not that expensive from the locale parts house. DHR... EX Ford Line Mech
