If its manual and you literally cannot pull the gear shifter out of gear, then when the engine is off, take off the parking brake, have someone rock the vehical back and forth gently while you keep the clutch depressed and try to take it out. then it should be towed (still in neutral might i add) to a shop. if this does not work with the clutch depressed, give it a shot with the clutch engaged (pedal all the way up)

Torqe converter clutch selonoid stuck on. You can get a new selonoid installed and the trans service at the same time since they have to drop the trans pan to fix the selonoid.

2007 yukon gears seems striped or transmisson prob. only 72000 mi

It is an internal trans problem. I build transmissions for a GM dealer. It is going to be the input carrier, forward sprag, and 3rd/4th clutches. I have seen several. Get it to your dealer. That truck has a 100,000 mile powertrain warranty. That includes the trans. Good Luck.

1996 Olds Bravada stays at 3000 rpm's at 65 MPH.

the trans is slipping or in the wrong gear, most likely the trans has an internal problem and will require extensive repair or overhaul. If u are at or near 100,000 miles then that is getting near the end of a transaxle's life span.

Transmission

This is only a possible explanation, and solution, as I haven't had or worked on a manual for over 30 years. Therefore this is only a "shot in the dark." Back in the 70s I helped a friend with a Chevy C-10 with the same problem.

When we got the transmission out and opened up we found that the "fork" which moved the 2nd gear assembly into and out of engagement had BENT, and become disengaged from the 2nd gear assembly.

Obviously, though he wouldn't admit it he, or someone, had put too much "muscle" into making the shift into 2nd gear, had bent the fork so badly that it became disengaged from the gear.

Rather than try restraighten it we bought and installed a new replacement fork.

I hope the problem and solution is simpler than this, but it's a possibility.

Tranmission problem on 1999 Dodge Grand Caravan

When the trans. sticks itself in 2nd gear and stays there is because it's detecting a trans. problem and puts itself in "limp in" mode. When it happens again, to somewhere to have a scan done on the trans. so you can find out which sensor on the trans. is acting up.

Dodge Intrepid 2000

Have had two intrepids that each lasted to almost 200000 miles - even with teenagers driving the last few years. The gear shifting thing came up on both of them. It has always been hit or miss as to when this happens. the only solutions we used were add transmission fluid, if necessary, and otherwise change the trans fluid if its been 50,000 miles since the last change. Also, letting it sit a few minutes (to cool?) does make a difference.
