Bottom of the engine, in the housing where the lower radiator hose connects to the engine.

Subaru legacy b4 fuel gauge read empty when full?gauges jump about too

You have a fuel level sending unit that is not working properly. It is located inside the fuel tank.

Also, when you ask for help with your vehicle it would be very helpful if you could mention WHICH "Legacy" we are talking about. It seems that Subaru got "stuck" on the Legacy name - there are actally 9 choices for "Legacy" just for your model year. (see list below) There are also 2 different engines available for that year a 2.2L and a 2.5L.

Just serviced my 1999 legacy b4, took the battery of to get to coil packs and now it miss fires, any ideas much appreciated

Did you connected the spark plug cables were they were ??
Other thing check if they are installed right, sometimes one of them pops out,
you have to assure that they are installed properly, have to hear a click when you insert them
to the spark plug and the coil.

Good luck!!!

Will power steering rack from 1996 subaru legacy fit my 1999 b4 subaru

Hi, quickest way to answer your question. Contact a major salvage yard. They have cross-reference master lists for most vehicles as to what will fit what or, can be swapped over.

Let me know if you were successful.

I have a 1999 Subaru Legacy B4 twin turbo and the engine check light just will not go off. I have tried everything possible. I have checked the air-flow sensor. I have checked and changed the sparks plugs....

O2 sensor. 99% of the time it's these. First, however, go to a parts dealer and ask to have the codes reset. Drive it for about 2-3 days. If it comes back on, give it another day, and if still on, have codes reset and replace O2 Sensor(s).

Let me know if I can be of any more assistance.

Have a 1999 Subaru Legacy B4 sedan with a 2000cc engine in Japan. The 2.5liter recommends timing belt change at 105,000miles if I'm not mistaken. What about for a 2liter engine?

Yes 2.2L is the same. Remember these are Subaru suggested. Does not hurt to replace belt at these intervals. Have a great day.
