Question about Toyota Cars & Trucks

Open Question

1988 Toyota 3.0 V6 has very hard starting when cold... tries to start and when it does it runs and re-starts fine... just when cold... any solutions?

This truck was bought brand new and lately has had problems starting when cold or not been running for a day or so. It tries to fire and partially startss but takes a lot of cranking. It will finally start and run normal and re-start all ok. But after sitting a day or so the same start problem shows up. It has 215,000 miles on it. Local "experts' suggest that the injectors are leaking down and to replace them. I have run several cans of fuel system cleaner thru it with no postive results. Thanks for any help!

Good Evening, you might want to check those injectors, I can not remember for certain but that setup was sequential and when one or two have a problem it would take out the rest. Ohm out the injectors and see what you have there.

SOURCE: My truck has been hard

You will probably find this problem intermittent.
Check connection and security of the Main Power cable between the Battery and the Starter Motor,
a Good Ground on the stater motor, and the same on the Starter Solenoid connection wire that originates on the Key start and runs thro' the Starter Relay in the Main Fuse/Power contol box.
After doing all of this the problem still persists, Take off the Starter Motor and have it tested at Autozone, or Checker Auto, FOC, and they will advise.
If Starter has reached its sell by date, then you only have to install the new Warrantied unit.

1988 Ford Taurus hard start problem

Change the coolant sensor located close to the thermostat housing. This is easy but do not over tighten it. You will have the same problem if you do. Tighten till it does not leak only.Good luck!

Toyota pickup 1988 V6 Auto tranny does not shift into low 1

I guess the best , easiest & cheapest thing to do, right of the start is get fluid & filter changed, and lube all cables & linkages thoroughly, unless that's all been done recently.

1988 Celica GT Cold start problem and smoke on startup

blue smoke is evidence of oil burning and is most likely valve seals. this can be done on most cars with head still on by applying air to the cylinders this keeps valves up while spring is removed
