SOURCE: 1998 ford f 150 will not turn over lights go out

This is a connection problem. When you attempt to draw high amps the system is actually breaking away from the voltage. You'll also need to make sure the battery is fully charged & tested as bad starting connections also mean bad charging connections.

This is generally the terminals at the post but can be the connections to the starter &main fuse wiring connections as well as the ground connections..

Use emery cloth or sandpaper on all corroded areas & apply vaseline or di-electric grease, or just axle grease to the areas to prevent further corrosion & to seal the area a bit. That includes the post & the terminals once cleaned completely & reinstalled. Since your vehicle is a 98 model, when the cables are removed bend them back & forth to see if you hear noises. These can fill with corrosion that kills voltage & have to be replaced when that happens.

Remember: always remove the Neg (-) cable first and install it last when working on your vehicle.

good luck.

SOURCE: I need to know the

If you are talking about the trailer tow stop / turn lights, this is in the Engine Mini Fuse panel, which is not documented in the 199 Owners Manual for some reason.

It is in the 1997 OM.

If you want a better picture, you can download the 1997 Owners Manual from Ford :

Here is a picture from a 1998 MY truck, the cover is off of it.

Here is a picture from the Top that shows the relay block as well ( not documented too well in the 1998 OM either )

check the white connector on top of the transmission. it may be corroded. also check that the transmission range sensor TRS is working properly by using a obd2 reader to read the TRS position as you switch through selections.

Did you check the fuse for the trailer tow adapter parking lamps ? This is a separate fuse from the truck's parking lamps.
Fuse #10 is the Trailer Tow parking lamps ( via the trailer tow parking lamp relay ) and this is the same fuse for the trailer tow reversing lamps ( via the trailer tow reversing lamp relay ).

If you did not get an owners manual with your truck ( purchased used ), you can download one from Ford :

On the side of your transmission will be a switch with several wires coming out of it. This is your reverse switch that turns on your reverse lights and most likely needs to be replaced

Reverse lights not working on 1993 Ford Ranger

Not sure what transmssion you have but basically it goes from fuse on P/O wire to either the MLP switch on automatic or just a backup lamp switch on manual and leaves the switch on BK/PK wire to the bulbs. Should be easy to trace with a 12v test light.
