SOURCE: 1999 Buick Century headlights don't work properly

Iam an ASE Certified mechanic and i had the same problem with my 99 century and i wasnt able to drive at night. After hours of testing wires we came to the problem. Its the turn signal switch assembly which is tied into the hazard switch on top of the steering column. Its all one piece with a 3 foot long wiring harness attached to it running down the bottom of the steering column and going underneath the dash. The least expensive place i found the part and had it in stock was my local Auto Zone and still the part was $200.00.

P.S. This is a common problem on these GM cars. Mine did the same thing to the tee! The lights will go on and off then they just went off for good and this solved the problem. I guarantee it. If you have any questions please email me i will do all i can to help.

Look in the owners manual. Most like under hood on top of fire wall fuse and high amp. Relays under cover.

Headlights will not shut off when engine is turned off

I suspect the headlight relay has failed in the closed position. You should be able to buy a new headlight relay for around 10$ at a local auto-parts store. I'm not 100% sure where the relay box is located in a 1998 Buick. However, usually they're made out of black plastic and located in the engine compartment. Typically the box has a snap-on lid. Most of the time the relays are labeled, or there might be a diagram in your owners manual. Unplug the old headlight relay by hand and plug the new one in. I hope this advice helps you out.

93 buick century -turn signals

The Buick Century uses separate relays for the hazard warning and turn signal functions. The turn signal relay is located on the accelerator pedal bracket, and the 4-way flasher relay is located on the convenience center near the left kick panel. Try switching these two relays with one another to see if your turn signals work instead of your 4-ways.
