i had a simular problem myself...... it turned out to be a bad battery connection, hence it kept sparking and ran flat within days. make sure the terminals are good and tight!!

Have you had the battery checked..Cold weather is the worst enemy on a battery. They work fine in summer but cold will get em.

its a renault ,what else do you expect ??hope you got a nice discount to compensate you for a dealer only repair car.these cars are sold under false pretences as they are a millstone around your neck with their electrics and encrypted software.the repair is to change the facia behind the radio as its a one piece electrical circuit and if you unplug it the famous renault immobiliser cuts in so its dealer only .

By died out of the blue, do you mean that it stopped running? Or did it just not start?
If it didn't start try wiggling the small spade connector on the starter itself. The starter is on the front of the engine under the intake manifold. you can see the two large battery wires from the top, but just behind them is a small spade connector that you can feel with your hand. This supplies the start signal to the starter. Wiggle the wire and try to start the car (make sure you don't have anything metal on your arm or hand when you do).
If the car starts remove the connector and gently squeeze the connector to a more closed position since they sometimes get loose and loose contact.
If the car still doesn't start check this wire with a test light while someone holds the key in the start position. While in the start position you should have voltage at this wire.
If you don't have voltage you have an electrical problem.
If you do have voltage then you may have a bad starter.
If the car just stopped running while you were driving it then I would take it to a reputable shop for diagnosis.
Hope this helps.
