Question about GMC Sierra 1500
The truck is stone dead. But the battery (one year old) has juice. No click when you turn the key, no lights in the cab or dash. The yellow "security" light flashed, and there was some clicking before it went dark. When I put the amp meter to the terminals of the battery with the cables connected, the numbers jump all over the place. when I disconnect the cables, the number stays in one place.

Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
Attempt to start the engine, then release the key to ON, vehicle will not start.
Observe the SECURITY telltale. After approximately 10 minutes , the telltale will turn OFF. The vehicle is now ready to relearn the Passlock Sensor Data Code and/or password XXXXX the next ignition switch transition from OFF to CRANK.
Turn OFF the ignition, and wait 5 seconds .
Start the engine, the vehicle has now learned the password.

When you disconnected the battery, you tripped the alarm which locked down everything. In your owners manual, look under the security or alarm system. It will tell you how to disarm your particular alarm system. If I am not mistaken on these you put the key in the drivers door and lock and unlock it 2-3 times. If you do not have the owners manual, you can contact dodge and they will walk you through it.
