Have you checked the positive connection from battery to starter? this connection has another feed that runs the rest of the car. Its either loose or corroded. Take battery terminals off and soak in baking soda, water and 2 drops of dishwashing detergent. If any corrosion is present this mixture will foam and remove your corrosion.

Its odd that car dies Are you sure you do not have a dead cell in the battery?

Replacing a Starter on a 1990 Mercury Grand Marquis

Disconnect the battery positive terminal. Disconnect the wire going to the start. Unbolt the 2 13mm bolts holding in the starter, one on top, one on the bottom. You may have to move the starter around a little to get it out.

95 Grand Marquis loses power between 45mph - 60mph

Mine was doing the same thing. I took it to one place and they charged me $107.00 for a fuel injection cleaning. That didn't do a thing. I then took it to a backyard mechanic and it turned out to be a bad spark plug. It has been running great ever since. Good luck.
