I solved my own problem by doing some research online ! So...after reading many reviews, it turns out that my problem was fixed by simply sticking the key back into the ignition and wiggling the steering wheel until I was finallly able to get the key to turn ! Then, my car started right up and purred like a kitten !

SOURCE: THE IGNITION KEY WON"T COME OUT> I"VE TRIED

Under the steering column there is a small plastic piece that can be removed from the lower cover. Remove that piece. the hole will be big enough to put your finger in. If you look you will see the park lock cable where it attaches to the ignition lock cylinder housing. Push/pull lightly on that. It will move in one direction. As soon as you feel it move turn the key to the off position.

SOURCE: Put key in ignition and it won't turn

Your ignition is bad, or your key might be worn out if you have more then one you might try that. Other wise you will have to replace the ignition switch.

SOURCE: ignition locked. Key won't turn.

Hi,
Yes when you replaced the batteries in the FOB this will have cleared the system identification for the keys.
So have these reset to your vehicle and then you will have no problems.

My car won't turn on says it's locked

The security lock picture/icon is a visual indication that something in the car's antitheft system is failing. In most GM cars and trucks there is a hidden system that most people are unaware even exists. From the moment you put your key in the ignition, there begins a constant line of communication between your key's security chip or transponder, to the ignition's lock cylinder, and then to the car's TDM (Theft Deterrent Module). These 3 parts are in CONSTANT communication. If the key is in the ignition, then these parts are sending signals to each other. The security light illuminates when that signal gets broken, even just for a second. When the signal breaks, the car misinterprets this as an attempt at theft and goes into antitheft mode. The car thinks its being stolen or hotwired because it is not getting that signal from YOUR specific key. This is why the security light turns on and shuts down your vehicle. This link explains it pretty well.

I have an 2002 Chevy Impala, when I go to crank my car it won't do anything. I have to play with the ignition by turning the key back and forth in order for it to crank. what is that?

Why do so many people ask about an Alternator ?

It has nothing to do with the starting system

You said you have to play with the key & ignition switch
that may be a place to start

Second Chip key for 2005 Aveo won't work

assuming the 2005 model year stil uses viper security systems...the chip in the key carries a magnetic resistance frequency. if the chip is damaged or corroded the frequency will change and wont engage the igntion. you can either get another key made (about 75 dollars) or bypass the ignition lockout feature.

98 chevy cavalier turns over but won't start

i know industry jargon can be confusing, but lets try this. if it turns over but won't start, it could be your ''ignition module'' that sits on top of the vave cover on the motor or it might be the fuel pump or filter. make sure when you crank the engine that the key is all the way turned or it may not always make a proper contact to activate the ignition module. iv'e seen this before & had to change the ignition switch & all worked ok after that. i would need to know engine lt size to give you more details on the matter. please get back to me.

The ignition key in my 2011 chevy aveo will not turn to start the car. This only happens occassionally (3 times in six months). I can get the key to turn by rocking the car but only with some considerable...

Dale, the problem could be in your Starter Motor. It may be loose, which would cause the problem to only happen sometimes. Check all the bolts holding it on, and if it happens again, I'd suggest getting an Auto Electrician to check it out. Hope this helps.

Won't start. Turn the ignition and nothing. The engine light comes on and the auto theft light comes on for a few moments and goes off. I tried the couple things suggested in the owners' manual...

if nothing happens when you turn the key the problem is most likely the ignition switch and housing(had mine replaced 3 times already. firstr time at 12,000 miles) what you can try is hit key with rubber mallet while trying to turn but this would only be to get it started so you can drive to a chevy dealer(dont waste your time at any old repair shop for this). Hope this helps.
