Takes too long to warm up in winter

The vehicle takes a long time to heat up especially in cold winter months

That is sort of normal

Start it & go inside for 10 min

The thermostat maybe stuck open-- but doubt
it on a 2008

That sort of thing is subjective

I could use scan tool software in june & nov to compare
temp data & time it,but that is a stretch for yourself ,as a
vehicle user only

Now if you meant inside hvac heat-- you have to be specific,
that can be diagnosed, only if you have reference material
& trouble charts

While your car does not need warming up to drive, it IS better to let it warm up...

Todays fuel injected cars do not need to be warmed up before driving. In fact it will do more harm since idling is not good for any vehicle. This also wastes fuel. You should drive it right away to speed up engine warm up.

How to diagnose ALL vehicle NO heat problems

It is winter and you jump in your car start it up and turn the heater blower fan on.
You sit and wait...and wait.... NO HEAT !
Here are a few easy steps to help diagnose the problem:

1) After vehicle is completely warmed up, open your vehicles hood.

2) Grab a pair of gloves. Put them on, now put your hand with your glove on, on the TOP radiator hose. ( The top black radiator hose is the largest hose on the top of the radiator inlet running to the thermostat housing, in most vehicles)

3) Be careful NOT to touch ANY part of the engines cooling fan(s). Is the radiator hose HOT or COLD to the touch ?

If the hose is cold the easiest repair is to replace the thermostat. The thermostat helps regulate the engine temperature keeping it approximately 195 degrees Fahrenheit, and helps supply hot coolant to run through your vehicles heater core to keep you warm in the winter.

How much warm up time does a dodge sprinter 2500 diesiel require in the winter time?

At idle it can take hours to fully warm up

If your concerned about driving it right away after starting, not a big issue.....start, let it warm a min or two then drive.

Diesels warm slower than gas engines, and they take longer to get warm enough to give you heat untill fully warmed up.

Normally you should see good temp and good heat after driving about 15 minutes after the first cold start of the day.

Slow shifting when engine is cold

I have the same problem with my 97.... especially shifting from 3rd to O/D... I've had the tranny serviced and flushed.... It still does it until the tranny warms up.... the tranny's in them are temperature picky!!!!! It's the nature of the beast!!! Wait until spring and everything will be good until next winter!!! If you're really concerned with it you can put a "cold front" on it or block half (NO MORE THAN HALF) of the tranny cooler with cardboard thru the winter months

2006 f350 XL SPEEDOMETER

There is a Technical Service Bulletin Out for this concern no. 07-11-2. Here are the symptoms.

A known issue exists on the instrument cluster where it is possible for the graphics applique to separate from the cluster backplate and interfere with pointer operation. The suspect vehicle build months are July, 2005 to January, 2006. Although not impossible, vehicles built outside of this time period will likely not have this issue. The most common symptom is the speedometer pointer sticking while operating in cool or cold weather and the vehicle interior is beginning to warm up after a cold start. Revised instrument clusters are now available for service that includes a fix for this concern.

2002 Jeep does not idle

Well alot of people tend to think that just because they have a vehicle that is new or within 10 yrs of new...that they can get in it and strart up and just take off...well...the truth is and especially in Winter months is that you have to warm up your vehicle till the water tempature gets to where it needs to be ...warmed up.....in order for all the systems in your vehicle to work properley.....so Warm up your vehicle everyday before you drive it....don't just hop in and take off......This is my solution to this problem, especially if it is a seasonal..problem.....Sincerely, Mike
