I have holden vectra 1998, oil leak going from plug in the oil reserve tank

Usually its either from the oil cap or oil filter but i can see the oil leaking from that plug i dunno what it is,it looks like a sensor for oil, so what should i do ? , i want to try and change the oil and oil filter and put one of those oil that stops the leak , would that work? i took it to a mechanic and he said that he have to change something inside the tank and it will cost alot , so i wanted to just seal the leak with one of these oil that u can buy from super cheap

SOURCE: Oil Leak

Take the car to a car wash and power wash the engine. Do this ONLY with a cold engine. And be prepared to have problems with it starting as water get's into the electrical components. Take some WD-40 with you to spray inside distributor caps, on spark wiring, etc. to get the engine running again.

Then check the engine weekly to see where the oil is coming from.

SOURCE: 1998 s10 oil leak

well it wont be the oil pan seal then cause they never leaked that much. I would go back and look at the filter he put on. could be just a problem with it. for the cost of one put another one on and make sure the gasket surfacce is clean down to the metal engine block.

SOURCE: transmission oil leak

Re-torque the pan bolts. If that doen't help then may just give it a transmission oil anf filter change. Would not hurt to service it if your going to keep it longer then the times your going to clean up the oil satins on the drive way. Good luck

SOURCE: Oil Leak on Ford F-550 1999

if your not having problems with the vehicle missing the injectors are fine. if your getting alot of oil in the uper in take chances are that the seals inside the turbo are leaking and if you have excessive blowby then perhaps a replacement of the o-rings on the injectors might be needed but i would say that 5-6 thousand sounds way off the mark as far as replacement parts and shop labor

Does my holden Vectra 3.2 v6 have a oil cooler

If it is an automatic transmission it will have an oil cooler in one of the radiator tanks. The fix is a new radiator unless you can find a radiator shop that is prepared to remove the tank and fit a new cooler core.

Tensioning timing belt

Timing belts usually have an automatic (spring Loaded) adjuster. Usual replacement is done at 100,000 k or 60,000 miles. If you do not replace it you run the risk of it breaking which could do damage to the engine. refer to your owners manual.

Antifreeze leaking from engine on 2001 ford focus

It sounds like you have a blown head gasket, check your engine oil, take off your oil cap and if it is frothy around the cap and inside the head, you have a blown head gasket.

Overheating coolant boiling out into reserve tank

you have a blown head gasket.. doesn't have to have coolant in the oil for a blown head gasket... if hoses are rock hard when running then you have exhaust leaking into the coolant via a blown head gasket...

COOLANT-ADDING ADDITIONAL
Do not remove radiator cap to add coolant to system. When adding coolant to maintain correct level, do so at coolant reserve/overflow tank. Use a 50/50 mixture of ethylene glycol antifreeze containing Alugard 340-2 y and low mineral content water.
Remove radiator cap only for testing or when refilling system after service. Removing cap unnecessarily can cause loss of coolant and allow air to enter system, which produces corrosion.

COOLANT LEVEL CHECK
The cooling system is closed and designed to maintain coolant level to top of radiator.
WARNING: DO NOT OPEN RADIATOR DRAINCOCK WITH ENGINE RUNNING OR WHILE ENGINE IS HOT AND COOLING SYSTEM IS UNDER PRESSURE.
Remove radiator cap. The coolant level should be to top of radiator. If not, and if coolant level in coolant recovery bottle is at ADD mark, check for:
  • An air leak in coolant reserve/overflow tank or its hose
  • An air leak in radiator filler neck
  • Leak in pressure cap seal to radiator filler neck

Radiator boiling into recovery and boiing out

Does the vehicle overheat on the road? If it does and pushes big burps of coolant into the reserve tank then you could have a head gasket leak. Usually what happens with a head gasket leak is that the engine will often start and run normally but will soon start to push coolant out in a kind of foamy burp as the combustion gasses that accumulate in the engine block force their way out. You can have a small head gasket leak that allows combustion gasses to escape into the cooling system without getting coolant back into the engine and often the first symptoms of this kind of a leak is a motor that suddenly overheats, the heater quits blowing hot air and after a short while everything returns to normal for a day or so. As the leak worsens however it may keep pushing coolant out of the reserve tank with a cool or cold engine as the pressure builds to quickly for the reserve tank to handle it fully. Having said that if you have a perfectly good cooling system that is hot and take off the radiator cap it will spray blistering coolant coolant all over so never remove the cap from a warm or hot cooling system! Most additives won't stop a head gasket leak as there is just too much pressure for them to "stick" in the leak and they just get forced out of source of the leak. It's rare but you could have a water pump that's not circulating enough coolant around but usually you have different symptoms than this.

99 Chev suburban 5.7 liter, antifreeze keeps leaking have to fill reserve and radiator evryother day, (new radiator) no white smoke, oil looks ok, cant see leak anywhere on the ground or frame??? Wheres it...

check the condition of the reserve tank and the hose from the reserve tank to the radiator for leaks if no leaks there have the Radiator cap presure tested . also this could be a air lock in the engine if the radiator is new with the engine running and the heater on hot observe the fluid level in the radiator with the cap off if it drops as it warms add more coolant this will purge the air .
