Re: How to fill the tranny oil in 97 Audi A4 Quatro
You have to refill it using a small funel through the dipstick hole. Thats how it's been for years. I wish they would think of a way to refill these things in some other way.

some models have the fill plug on the side of the pan, while others have the fill plug on the bottom & you need a special L-shaped adaptor to fill the fluid into the pan
some engine have two oil pressure sender one on oil filter housing anther on cylinder head direct to camshaft cover case . if this indicator is yellow light there is oil level sender down the oil pan (some models)some time have carbon inside need remove and clean . if all pressure sender is OK .then you have to clean the oil pump strainer after you remove oil pan there is metal pipe with filter fix with two bolts remove and clean it
The yellow light oil sensor on Audi TT Quattro is the warning message for the minimum oil level has been reached !!! Check engine oil level by dipstick & fill up oil inside engine !!!
go to audiworld.com/tech/misc32.shtml. it is a slideshow breakdown of how to access the fill and drain holes on your audi. It tells what tool to use and how to do the work, good luck.
Drain fluid with drain plug on bottom of pan.Remove pan and change filter. Reinstall pan with new gasket torque to factory spec.Have car on level ground.Remove fill plug on side of pan.Install new fluid with pump and hose. You can use old gear oil bottle and hose.Fill to bottom of fill hole. Put foot on brake with car running shift though all gears.Go back to fill plug and top off till it runs out hole. This should do it.
LISTEN CLOSE. THERE IS A PLUG ON PAN. REMOVE IT. WITH A SYRINGE TYPE CANISTER YOU NEED TO INJECT THE FLUID INTO IT UNTIL IT STARTS TO COME OUT. THEN CAREFULLY START VEHICLE AND INJECT ANOTHER 3/4 QUART UNLESS IT STARTS TO COME OUT OR EVEN A QUART.LET IT RUN FOR 5 MINUTES THEN CONTINUE TO INSERT UNTIL IT OVERFLOWS AND TIGHTEN THE PLUG BACK TO THE PAN. i WOULD ONLY USE AUDI VOLKSWAGON FLUID AND YES IT CAN RUN $14 TO $18 A LITER
The best balance of price, quality, availability that I have found is Mobil1 synthetic - it's on Audi's approved oils list. With the 2.0T engine, you absolutely want to use synthetic (the Audi turbo fours are known for oil sludge issues), and you want to do a SeaFoam treatment every 15k miles or so - that combination will keep your engine in great running shape.
