probably the belt making noise , very common .
WHen a belt gets old it gets dry and cracks start to appear , the non-ribbed side of the belt may get dry & glazed also make noise . common problema are also tensioners that make the belt get out of line with the rest of the pulleys , look carefully because just a little miss-alignment can cause a belt to slip on the smooth side of pulleys and make noise . Misting water onto the belt may also help you determine what is making noise.

Usually the fuel pressure regulator vac. hose pops off? If not listen for a slight whistling noise (vac leak).

I think you are looking for the location of the belt tensioner. Here are pictures of the routing and the tensioner position on both engines available on the Windstar. The top is for a 3.0L and the bottom is the 3.8L.If you need anything else, let me know. Thanks,Chuck

Using a 15mm wrench attached to the drive belt tensioner pulley, rotate
the tensioner clockwise to release the tension. Remove the drive belt
from the pulley. When installing the new drive belt, ensure that the
drive belt is routed correctly and note the position of the indicator
mark on the tensioner.
