What is the firing order on a distributor cap

Hi Elikapeka . which engine is in your Thunderbird? Also Why do you want to know? is it not running?
the V6 3.8 litre firing order is:
V-6 Firing Order: 1-4-2-5-3-6
if you are having running problems and you have the big carburetor rather than injection. a good tuner guy is your expert and these guys do it by ear if they know what they are doing.

I need the correct firing order diagram for a 1982 ford f150 351 windsor please help at least a link to a site

The firing order is ( 1 - 3 - 7 - 2 - 6 - 5 - 4 - 8 )

The distributor rotor turns COUNTERCLOCKWISE

The marked # 1 position on the distrubutor cap faces to the REAR and slightly towards the drivers side

The engine cylinders / spark plug locations are numbered :

firewall

4 - 8

3 - 7

2 - 6

1 - 5

front

If someone has altered the disstributer, pull #1 plug, put finger over hole, turn engine over until compression on that cyl, line up timing marks (ball park only) and rotor will be pointing at the correct terminal for #1 cylinder plug wire connection, in the cap.

Where can I find a diagram for the plugs and wires on a 1987 Ford F-150 302 V-8 engine?

the firing order is on the intake manifold. If the wires and plugs are out take the distributor cap off and crank the motor slightly and see if it turns clockwise or counterclockwise. Bring #1 piston up and put the plug wires on according to the firing order.

if you are certain that the wires have been replaced correctly then you could have a bad set of wires even though they are new this happens sometimes but it sounds as if the firing order is off check the engines timing to see if its still in time.

I need a diagram showing the spark plug wires on a ford 302 motor

FIRING ORDERS NOTE: To avoid confusion, remove and tag the spark plug wires one at a time, for replacement. If a distributor is not keyed for installation with only one orientation, it could have been removed previously and rewired. The resultant wiring would hold the correct firing order, but could change the relative placement of the plug towers in relation to the engine. For this reason it is imperative that you label all wires before disconnecting any of them. Also, before removal, compare the current wiring with the accompanying illustrations. If the current wiring does not match, make notes in your book to reflect how your engine is wired. I have a 1965 food falcon with a mustang 302 (1978 ) v8. how do i know if it is a windsor or not?

Well there is a 302 cleveland, they are mainly an Australian engine. Identifying one is much like telling the difference between a 351 windsor and a 351 cleveland. Based on the fact that it's from Ford's 335 engine family. 8 cap screws to hold on the valve covers, the block is longer do to the timing chain housing being integrated. The fuel pump bolts are mounted vertically, and the exhaust bolt holes are diagonal. Also, a big difference between an american 302 and an aussie 302 cleveland, is the connecting rods for the cleveland are 6.000''. Where the american 302 connecting rod length is 5.090". Also, referring to a 302 as a windsor is incorrect, it's block families name is the 90 degree v8. The only engine in that family that is properly named the windsor, is the 351 windsor. The 90 degree family also includes the 302 boss. The boss has cleveland style heads, and the block has screw in freeze plugs.

Im trying to find the correct order for the spak plug wires from the distributor cap to the engine on a 1991 subaru loyale, 4 cylinder 1.8 liter

Its easy to set the distributor timming all you have to do is to aligne the crankshaft pully to the marks and see which cylinder is on firing or rather on power stroke you may hve to remove the vavle cover to get the correct cylinder at power stroke which will have the valves (inlet & exhaust )closed.
At the distributor cap removed check out the rotor as to where it is and thts your number one, since you know the firing order so from here you should be able to get the wiring of the distributor correct.
Good Luck.
