Can headlight lens be purchased seperately without having to buy the entire headlight assembly?

So far I've been unable to find an 'exploded' headlight view nor the individual parts to replace $0.50 cents worth of a cloudy Dodge headlight plastic lens. If that much. It's almost a criminal rip off to pay anywhere from around $50 to over $250 to obtain a new, clear, $0.50 headlight lens only!!! I'm 80 years old and to me it appears to be a profitable planned disintegration of the plastic lens. Whose idea was it to force this crappy headlight design upon us? Glass Headlights used to cost me under $10 a pair...

Ever noticed the US is the only country that has no diesels for the most part because the 1955 chicken law is still in effect, the checks were taken off in about 1995 but we can't buy a diesel truck here unless it is from the big 3. May want to consider this is not a democratic place at all

SOURCE: need to replace driver's side headlight in 2004 dodge SX2.0

No. Just twist black locking retainer about half turn counterclockwise (left), remove it & wiggle bulb out. replace bulb without touching glass part of it which shortens the life if you do. Add a little vaseline to Orange O ring, to make it pop back in, after you make sure tabs on bulb are aligned with ones in the hole of housing. You may need to wiggle it back in too. Put retaining ring back on, turn clockwise until it locks, plug wire connector back in to back of bulb, until it snapps onto catch on bulb and your good to go.

First you have to remove the turn signal lamp. There is a plastic release tang that you push one way and pull the turn signal out. Next you have to remove the filler panel below the headlight assy to gain access to the bottom bolt. 2 screws hold the filler in place. There is also a black plastic filler panel that is pinned to the headlight assy remove it. There are 3 or 4  bolts that hold the headlamp assy in place 2 on top 1 on bottom actually it might be 2 on the bottom. (old age memory loss LOL) remove the bolts and remove the headlamp assy. The lens is held in by plastic clips just pry up gently on the locking clips and remove the lens. I hope this helps. It fairly easy and you should be able to DIY. Good luck and thanks for using FixYa!!

How do remove a headlight from the the assembly for a 1999 buick park avenue

Hello there,
For you to be able to take off the assembly of the headlight on your car, please follow the steps below:
Ensure that the headlight switch (on the driver side of the Regal's passenger cabin) is in the off position.
Release the hood latch and open the hood.
Approach the passenger-side headlamp assembly. (Although on your left, this is the right-side lens assembly when sitting inside the vehicle.)
Locate the two white retaining brackets on the top rear edge of the assembly.
Lift the tabs straight upward about an inch to an inch and a half.
Grab the assembly from the sides of the front edge (being careful of any broken lens pieces; although the lens is made of plastic, you can still get cut by jagged pieces).
Firmly pull the assembly outward, away from the front of the Regal. Wiggle the assembly slightly to unseat the headlamp assembly alignment guide pins from their anchors.
Pull the assembly out only far enough to access the wire harness connections of the low-beam headlight, the high-beam headlight and the integrated parking/directional light.
Twist the retaining collar of the low-beam lamp (the outside lamp, toward the fender) a quarter-turn counterclockwise to remove the light from the headlamp assembly while it is still attached to the wire harness. Be careful not to contact the halogen bulbs with your bare hands, or you can damage the bulbs.
Twist the retaining collar of the high-beam headlight (the inner headlight, closer to the grill) in the same manner as you did the low-beam lamp to remove the high-beam bulb and harness from the headlamp assembly.
Twist the socket of the last remaining integrated parking/directional bulb and wire harness assembly a quarter-turn counterclockwise to remove it from the headlight assembly.
Discard the assembly and replace it with the new headlamp assembly by following the steps above in reverse order. Make sure to align the tabs of the retaining collar and parking/directional lamp socket with the mating notches on the new headlamp assembly before turning them all clockwise a quarter-turn to lock them in place.

How do I clean the inside lamp haze from my 2000 buick regal gs?

Unfortunately, these headlight pods are sealed units, and there is no easy way to separate the lens from the reflector--at least, not if you want to put them back together again. If you are dead-set on trying to clean the inside of the lens, you can remove the pod from the car, pull the bulb, and use a rag moistened with window cleaner on a stick to try to clean the worst of the haze off the lights. However, you won't be able to clean the entire lens this way, only the areas that you can reach.
The preferred way to get your headlights nice and shiny again is to replace the headlight pods entirely. Aftermarket, i.e., non-GM pods are dramatically cheaper than ones you get from the dealership--I recently purchased a set of new OEM minivan headlight pods on eBay for $50, when the official GM replacement part cost $278 per side ($556 for a matched pair). Note that aftermarket parts may be made of thinner plastic and may not fit quite as well or last quite as long--but for the price, you can afford to replace them a bit more often.

Im trying to clean the inside of the lens on the driver side headlight of dodge intrepid year 2000. i want to take apart the housing and dont know how.

There is no taking the lense apart. It is a sealed unit. If the lense needs cleaning on the inside it is because the headlamp assembly has been damaged and needs to be replaced. If it just has the bad yellowing on the outside, most auto parts stores have headlamp cleaning kits available.
AutoZone lists your headlamp assemblies at $299.99

dttech_11.jpg It might be a good idea to check with a salvage yard first. You may find a good used one for less than half the price.

How to remove the lens cover (headlights) in order to clean them

Those assemblies are not meant to come apart. You can purchase a head light resurfacing kit at Auto Zone or any other Auto parts stop. It takes a little time but it works well.

To replace the headlights on your aurora, theres 2 silver looking screws on top of the headlight assembly under the hood. take those screws out(1 long and 1 short) and CAREFULLY pull forward on the entire light assembly. theres tabs on the far inside of the light assemblies that can be loosened with a flat head screwdriver. good luck.

Replacing my headlamps on my 96 Chevy Tahoe

On a 99 Tahoe Don't remove the grill.. There are two 6 inch long, hex head, vertical screws protruding from the frame above the headlight. To unscrew use a small hex socket.. maybe 1/4 inch. Turn the screws counterclockwise to remove till loose then pull up. The screws serve as a linch pin to secure the headlight to the mounting bracket. Here's a pic of the driver side light. Also, I had very good results with my park light lenses in 5 minutes with a hand drill, a soft buffing pad, and some fine polish. They were yellow and dull and looked clear and white when done. I washed the inside of the lense with soapy water and a soft toothbrush.. it made a big difference.fcb90cc.jpg

Driver's side Headlight Bulb Replacement

Do you mean the entire headlight assembly or just the bulb?
If it's the entire headlamp look at the new one to see where the fastening points are, the grill may have to be removed and also the parking lamp lens, if it's just the bulb it's easy Open your hood look at the back of the headlight assembly and twist the bulb holder ring to release it. Good Luck To You

Front Turn Signal Lamp Replacement

Yes, I would remove the entire headlamp assembly. This is easier than you think. Unscrew the large black plastic nuts (you should be able to use your fingers, if not then use a pair of pliers) which are on top of the headlamp lens (2) and the turn signal lens (1). The turn signal lens also has a metal screw-in stud attached to it. The headlamp lens lifts straight up and is attached to the turn signal lens by a clip at the bottom. The turn signal lens is attached by a clip to the inside fender. You will need to pull / **** the turn signal lens straight towards you to get the clip to disengage. Once you remove both lamps you will see how they fit together to place them back in position. It takes approx 15 minutes to replace a bulb, since the alignment during re-assembly is a bit tricky.
