Your air ride suspension is shot

Replace it with one of the several
conventional spring/shock kits &
eliminate the air, never was any good
& too expensive to diagnose & seldom
resolved by anyone

JacDempsey, how about shocks/struts? If they are bad, that could be what u need to cruise the highway nice and smooth the way a Grand Marquis should.

I feel unstable going at moderate speed around a corner. it doesnt feel like it hugs the road. is this because it is base GXE model?

in stability in corners can be from several reasons
The first is the quality of tires in use as all stability feelings are generated by the tire profile, tire pressure and side wall profile and the quality of the tire (for example a 195 -75 r15 tire will feel loose compared to a 195-25r15 tire which has small side wall dimension and so sits better in the corners )
Next is the condition of the shock absorber, worn out , old or not of good quality manufacturer ( shock absorbers are design to take the rebound out of springs and suspension movement and if they are of inferior quality or worn out , instead of allowing the body to roll slowly , it feels like it will fall over )
Next is the use of a stabilizer bar front and rear as this is what keeps the car feeling level on the road when cornering ( if the stabilizer bar is too thin in section it torques to easily and the movement of the center of gravity is not properly controlled and so the body leans too much instead of sitting flat)
Suspension parts , ball joints , struts , steering rod ends , bad rubbers all add to a bad feeling
another reason could be a wheel alignment or loose wheel bearings ( steering tends to dart and feel out of control when cornering)
Many cars are designed with "soft" suspension to enhance the driving experience but this type of suspension will give the feeling of uncertainty when cornering ( like being on a water filled mattress)
To get a cost of the suspension up grade you first have to know what is the reason for the bad feeling
I would suggest a full safety inspection by an accredited specialist suspension shop ( Pedders or the like ) and then a quote on the modifications that will improve drivability and cornering
a job done professionally will be a safe and legal job

My Subaru is making a jerking feeling

What year? What model? Jerking... when? Where do you feel the jerk? Do you have a "Check Engine" light on the dash?

You may have just lost a front axle. The rubber boot around the CV joint cracks, and dirt gets in and ruins the CV joint. This shows up as a sideways jerking in the steering wheel, rapidly getting worse and worse. It feels dangerous, and it IS dangerous. If it\'s allowed to continue, it could break the axle shaft - you certainly don\'t want that to happen on the highway.

If you\'re NOT talking about a sideways jerking in the steering wheel, please desribe what you DO feel, and when it happens, and if your "Check Engine" light comes on. It might possibly be nothing more serious than your air conditioner turning on & off.

Best way to access screen on CD4E FWD/AWD Transmission

You got issues other than filter or screen worries

Screens don't clog on a completely wasted & burnt
out unit & material filters don't clog enough to cause
issues

You need someone that knows that unit to diagnose it

I would check bulletins & other internet sites
Ford has some really bad transaxles & I haven't
checked the CD4E for you

I used to own a trans shop & to be honest, I really
don't want to know,as I don't get a good feeling,
I will leave that up to you to research

I do know if you using any trans with issues your on
life support & need you check book handy

Toyota 4 runner brake booster noise

if you can see brake fluid around the booster then yes it is most definitely not right, but sometimes these can fail without any fluid noticable, the visible fluid could mean that the brake master cylinder is failing & this will have an adverse affect on the booster power & performance, check your brake master cylinder first as this is a much simpler & easier repair than the brake booster & can be done at home on a flat drive or or street even, a Haynes manual is invaluable for the home mechanic & i recommend you get one as soon as you can as this will help you diagnose the problems with your vehicle before going to a mechanic/garage, if it is the brake booster at fault then i suggest you go to your local scrapper/breakers yard armed with tools & the Haynes/Chilton's Manual (Depending on which side of the pond you are from) & remove the brake booster from a now deceased Toyota 4Runner & remove the brake booster & master cylinder in one should only cost you a few Quid or Bucks & replace the part once your vehicle is back at home, once the parts have been replaced the brake system will need to be bled so that there is no air in the brake lines, this can be easily done with two people at home, Jack up one corner, remove that wheel & then just crack off the bleed nipple of the brake line Putting a bit of clear hose over the nipple to catch the excess brake fluid in a jug etc & have a friend push down slowly on the pedal, when only fluid comes out with no air then the system is bled for that wheel, Check the level in the brake master cylinder & repeat the process for the other 3 corners/wheels Once done your brake pedal should fell firm & Not spongy, If you get a spongy feeling when braking after this then there is still air in the brake lines & the system needs to be bled again, of course if you have done it right then your brakes should feel firm underfoot. Please don't forget to rate me, regards, Paul.

2003 impala rear of car kicks out around turns feels like car is dog tracking but coil springs look okay

Look for loose parts, loose front carriage bolts, suspension bolts or wear, and don't forget to make sure that tires are all the same size and that the wheel bearing are all good. This can be a difficult thing to find, but these are good places to start.

How can I stop my ABS brakes from occasionally activating even when I come to a gentle stop. I coast to a stop, hit the brake, and the front end feels like it's gonna fall off. The sound it makes is...

You can unplug the ABS, and it will be disabled. Doesn't sound like that's the problem, though. Have your front end checked, brakes, suspension, wheels, CV axles, everything. Before it cripples you on the road.

What would cause the streing wheel to shake real bad and the front left wheel feels like it's going to come off? it don't sound like the berings, cause the faster i drive the worst it gets? i know i...

Absolutely. The longer you drive it that way , it will tear other parts of the steering and suspension up. The parts are not made to take that kind of abuse.

2003 escape turned off while driving had no water it was dripping oil and won't turn on

I have no idea what kind of advice you would like

You could have checked the coolant in the morning
as well as the oil & still while driving you lost a head
gasket & it went into failsafe & shut off

When you say dripping oil, I don't get a good
feeling & your not saying where it is or what
you are doing with your suv.

I wouldn't be supprised if you find out
the motor is ruined,hope not
