Car started knocking really bad got a cylinder 2 misfire code after opening coolant bleed valve with enging hot

Okay, it may be due to overheating, that may be the noise you heard, lets hope. first allow engine to cool, open radiator cap or the resivoir cap, which ever is the fill, remove the bleeder at top hose and fill radiator slowly until coolant comes out bleeder.

note if water pump was replaced due to leaking and engine was overheated at that time then it may be a good idea to replace the thermostat .
after filling is done start engine and allow it to run. watch temperature if temp start to climb past half way shut engine down and let sit for 5min. then restart and check level, in res do not open cap . feel air from fan and see if it is getting hot, this may take up to a half hour but do not drive,

A few questions, does this jeep have an electric fan?
when you heard the knocking was engine temp hot?
If you start jeep cold does engine knock?
Did this jeep get a new thermostat with waterpump job?
did it overheat when pump went bad and why did water pump get replaced?

sorry for all the questions ,just trying to get all the info to help you .

I put a new thermostat in my 1994 ford escort, and still dont have warm heat while my heater is on. How do I test to see if I have a bad waterpump?

If it where your water pump isthe vehicle would overheat. After you replaced the thermostat do you run the engine at idle with the radiator cap removed until the radiator fan came one? This will help push the air out of the system. There are two other possibilities. 1. The heater core is plugged. Back flushing the heater core may help remove the built up debris and get you heat again. 2. The blend door may not be fully transitioning from cold to hot. You should be ale to hear a district change in how the air sounds when switching from full hot to full cold. Let me know if you have any questions and I'll do my best to answer them. Thank you for using FixYa.com!

What causes a 96 honda accord to run hot if the thermostat is brand new? would kit be the waterpump?

Check for a small leak in your radiator. Mine was leaking on top near the cap. Had a small crack which caused my temp to run hot.

Overheating on a 1990 jeep lardeo new waterpump

Assuming you dont have a blown head gasket the most likely thing is a clogged radiator. Lee

Ive put everything new on my 626 and it still runs hot

the engine may have a leaking head gasket, to eliminate this possibility a reputable auto repair shop will use a device that attaches to the radiator cap it has a blue fluid in it that will change to yellow if any combustion gas is present in the cooling system passages indicating a blown head gasket. Try the alumi seal product sometimes that works.

Car runs real hot

Make sure to use OEM parts and drain the air out of the cooling system. The 3.5 especially is very touchy regarding OEM and aftermarket waterpumps and thermostats for whatever reason. Simple solution to bleed out the air is to drive the car 5-10 mins without the pressure-cap.

Seems like an air bubble in sytem

If it's not running rough and no steam from tailpipe, likely air in system. try running with heater full hot with cap off system for about ten to twenty minutes and see if that helps. I like doing this with front jacked up at corner nearest the fill bottle to get air to go that way.

1992 Honda Civic over heating replace theormostat - still overheating air bubbles in overflow jug and in radiator when running with cap off...

here is a check list for common overheating issues low coolant? Any leaks? A headgasket leak? To test that use a coolant mix tester. Do the cooling fans run with the engine hot? Is the rad cap holding pressure? This can be tested usually its easier to swap it with a working one or buy new. Lastly the waterpump and timing belt. If the timing belt if old/high mileage or the tensioner faulty it can cause overheating. The common practice is to replace the timing belt every 100,000miles along with the waterpump and the belt tensioner
