The Crank Damper Pulley is worn out &
out of alignment & or tensioner pulley is weak

You have to find your belt tensioner, pop the cover off of it, hook a socket and ratchet to it and move it to release the tension off of the belt. While you are holding the belt tensioner, you can slip the belt off of one of the pulleys and then release the tensioner.

My serpentine belt is loose and I'm not sure where to tighten it. How do I tighten the belt?


It has an automatic spring loaded tensioner.If it is loose either the belt has stretched beyond its reach or tensioner is bad.transdoc.jpg

check the water pump and make sure its not locking up. also check tensioner and others with the belt off

BMW X3 aircon belt problem--keeps jumping out of crakshaft pulley


if air con belt runs off the pulley inspect the crankshaft damper pulley, it may be broken!
the air cond belt is a stretch belt with no tensioner!

spin all the pulleys by hand with belt off, make sure none are seized.
