Question about 1996 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera

Service engine will not go off even after servicing

Service engine light came on about a year ago, and will not go out. No matter what has been done. I had the battery disconnected after replacing a part, it went out for all of 6 minutes then came back on. Could this be a fuse (guage fuse), or the wiring for that particular part of the car???? Where I live (TX) you have to pass inspection yrly, and with that on it I cant pass the test. HELP!!!!!!!

You need to have the codes read with a obdii code reader, some parts stores will test it for free. Once you know what in making the light come on you can repair it accordingly (they are fairly inexpensive to buy approx 60.00 for a mediocre one and it will test codes on foreign and domestic vehicles 1996- 2003 or so)
hope this helps.......Good Luck!

Engine wont start, BCM just replaced, inflatable restraint and check engine light on.

need to start with do you have any obd code with key turned on
caddy is more complex system than most , check fully charged battery, and not a jump start, and battery is in very good condition .disconnecting battery would only clear codes leaving you with nothing to go on hopes this is some help to you.

How do I replace the check engine light bulb?

My first question is what year and model is your Pontiac ??
You may be able to disconnect the battery and clear the codes, or you may have to use a code reader depending on the year.
As for the check engine light, if it does not come on when you turn the key on, either the fuse is blown, or the bulb in the cluster.
The warning light must come on when you turn the key on no matter if there are trouble codes in the computer.

Check the oil pressure with a mechanical test gauge and it will likely be ok, if so replace the oil pressure sending unit. Do not use any oil thickener in this engine it can damage the bearings.

Hello, Seems you have done some good work in tracing the problem. It could be a bad Diode in the Alternator, disconnect the plug on the Alternator and see if the Voltage drops(engine off). But the tracing of the problem to the Power Window circuit and Interior lights merits further action.

You need to disconnect the Window motor, switches and so forth until you find the grounded part. There were some soldering issues in the Window motors when they were manufactured. The Drivers door has the additional Relay inside if you have the Auto-power feature

Your Battery needs to be fully charged and showing 13.2V-13.6V or the Battery is weak. Ford Anti-theft can even interrupt the Alternator from charging while you are driving. The Battery should be checked, but of course you still have the grounding issue which ran down the Battery for maybe Years.

I hope you found my solution very helpful in solving your problem.

Engine light 2006 pontiac g6(reset)

first be sure that its the engine light and not the "service" light. the service light will usually illuminate if its time for an oil change. if its the service light ur owners manual should tell u how to reset it. if its ur engine light then try disconnecting ur positive battery cable for 1 minute. that should reset ur ecm and get rid of the engine light. if the engine light comes back on then have a diagnostic scan done to determine whats causing it.
