Sounds as if you got it wrong somehow. Usually there is a chart under the hood showing this. If not, get a shop manual or ask the dealer for a diagram, or perhaps someone else here may have better knowledge.

Do the brake lights come on when you press the pedal?
if they do not check the wiring to the brake light switch see if there is any power on it.

Iveco 75e17

The most frequent problem is the Inertia sensor if the engine cranks, but will not start. This switch is usually behind the floor kick panels and has a Reset button on it. It's purpose is kill the power to the fuel pump in the event of a collision. But sometimes slamming a door or trunklid will trigger it.
If the engine does not crank, check the brake lever switch. It can get broken or displaced by the Drivers feet. If the signal from this switch is missing, the brake lights won't work and the starter may not work.

Reprogramming blank key iveco daily

Unfortunately there is no solution to this except to take it back to Iveco for reprogramming.

I am led to believe from my locksmith that there are two types of transponders generally put into cars and vans.

The first is a simple chip wtih a code which matches a code in the car / Van

The second is a chip which has a set of codes. They are read in order and the car / van remembers which one was used last. If you use the wrong code in the sequence then the car / van will ignore it and not let you start the engine.

The Iveco is unfortunately in the second group. If, like me, you snap your key, you can superglue a new key to the old and it works fine. The chip doesn't need to be "too" close to the barrel. Yes, it looks ugly, but it's much cheaper!
