Question about 1997 Chrysler Concorde

1 Answer

Where is the water pump located on a 1997 chrysler concord

We just bought a car and we think the water pump is out, the car runs good there is no knocking , it blows out clear smoke, and overheats, but if you leave the radiater cap off a little, it does not overheat or smoke, so we think the water pump is not working

You should take it to a shop and have a pressure test done on it. If it's a 3.3, it only takes about 30 min. to put a water pump on. If it's a 3.5 style engine, you have to take the timing cover off to replace the water pump. You also have to replace the timing belt.

On my 97 concorde the water pump is behind the timing belt cover. You must first take the timing belt cover off to see the water pump.

Need diagrahms to replace and install internal water pump for a 1997 Chrysler Concorde.

Your best bet would be to get the Haynes or Chilton repair manual from the local auto parts store for your vehicle. It should cost about $20.00.

Water pump location on 1996 chrysler concorde 3.5 mfi engine

On the 3.5 litre engine for this model, the water pump is located behind a large cover that is bolted on the front of the engine directy opposite of the fan. The pump is not visible or accessable unless that cover is removed.

Car is running hot. I think the water pump is bad. The upper hose is under a great deal of pressure.

Even a pump with failed seals and bearings will move coolant (will be noisy and leak though) Your problem sounds more like another problem, either the cooling fans are not coming on, you have a bad thermostat, plugged radiator or bad head gasket. If fans are OK, change thermostat and re-test for other problems.

If it's a 3.5, it's behind the timing cover. If it's a 3.3, it's on the lower driver's side. It has a smooth wheel on it. Hope this helps. PHil
