Misting with check engine light blinking

Van use to have solid check engine light with a mist in it, now its blinking i took it to auto zone and codes p0403 open or short detected in the EGR solenoid circuit and p1494 leak detection pump switch or mechanical fault. I've replaced EGR valve, all hoses and wires seem in place and good, gas cap good condition oil cap, new plugs and wires, fuel injector cleaner, what can i do to get this engine light out for emissions inspection???

First it is very hard to find a real mechanic today . It's kind of looking for a true American . Half has excepted the lie that we are bad and deserve the 911 incident where over 3000 unsuspecting United States citizens lost there lives. And the other says that is totally unacceptable and those who did this must pay because they are terrorists and they are wrong. Many parts replaces ( I mean auto technicians ) yea, are taught to get a number from the computer and then tell the customer the cost replace the part and let you return with the same identical problem and find a new computer code number. The odds are on there side the problem never gets solved. The answer is find a real mechanic. The truth is you have a miss so find someone with good sense and let him replace the wire or plug, injector,and never trust that dealership ever again.

Mazda 3 sport hatch with Auto T. Sudden drop in gas mileage and dark transmission fluid. Is this related or is it a known Mazda issue? Mileage is 26000 .

It\'s not likely your spark plug check owners manual, most spark plugs today go 75k or more. Most likely it\'s your fuel injectors need cleaned.. FYI fuel injectors via solenoid for each, spray fine mist into combustion chamber, like a Windex bottle on mist. If the injectors get carbon deposits it will cause the mist to become uneven causing poor detonation of fuel,air bomb. Get a bottle of SEAFOAM fuel injector cleaner run your gas down to about a 1/4 tank poor in the cleaner and run the tank as low as you can this should help clean both the injectors and the plugs. I you have a check light on go to Auto Zone , Pep B, our any big box auto parts store and have them plug their tester in and get your code diagnostics. You may have more going on than you know. Good luck Bret, BIG PS , Did not not see complaint on trans. Problem till just now. This is a big deal check u-tube if you can about how to change trans. Fluid it will give you basic info every one needs to know. If you can\'t change your trans. Fluid yourself please make sure you watch U tube vids and learn the scams. Go to the closest place and get it changed. Make sure your informed! If they tell you their going to do a complete flush you get it in writing and you tell the to make sure to flush the torque converter. Check your owners manual for total amount of fluid in system and make sure they know you know how much is to be replaced or the might try and scam you, that sucks but that\'s the deal. Get it done way cheaper than a transmission, you will get a new trans. Filter too, good luck, Bret

Check engine light on

erase code again , then disconnect battery for a few minutes, reconnect, see if code comes back. hopefully this resets computer. you don\'t have a reset button on steering wheel do you ? replace your fuel filter, if you haven\'t lately. maybe that will help.

Have a 2004 Ford Freestar 4.2l with 75k miles. About a month ago the engine started missing. Engine light was blinking. Took it to local shop and problem of course stopped before they could diagnose it....

Both Autozone and Oreillys will scan your van without charge. A blinking light usually means an intermittent problem and may be picked up on a scanner this time. The local shop did right by checking the wires and plugs.

What they did was to check the spark side of the problem. You may have a problem with a fuel injector or its wire which also causes a miss. Nothing is easy to work on anymore. If this is your only vehicle it makes it hard to do something.

If the next scan does not help you about all you can do is catch it missing, shut it off, and pull the plugs. You can tell if a plug is not firing by looking at it. Or you can mist the engine with a water spray bottle , keep it dark, and start the engine and look for sparks jumping.

The check engine light turns on and off. Could this be caused by bad gas or the need of a tune-up??? The car itself feels like it is misfiring, but runs fine after running for 15-20 minutes. Should I go...

Go to Autozone and get it tested. The intermittent misfire can cause the check light to flash when the defect occurs. The code will identify the cylinder which is the problem. Usually a sparkplug or damp sparkplug wire will do this until the operating heat dries out the damp part.

There is also the chance that an Intake Gasket is going bad or loose. When the parts expand from operating temperature the problem goes away only to return when the engine cools off. The code for these problems would tell of lean conditions. The extra air going into the engine dilutes the fuel mix. You will know from the scan and if the lean code comes up you will need to find the leak. For that, a spray water mist or choke cleaner safe for plastics can be used around the seams of the intake and on Vacuum solenoids and even Injector seals.

My engine light is blinking on my 2000 ford windstar what could be wrong with it

paradise by the dash board lights? i also have engine, brake, abs, and door lights on, cruise control has its own mind, and just recently o/drive kicks out on its own(very dangerous on icy roads). mine going for recall issues as posted: rear axle cracking, under hood fire from leaking fluid onto (2) 40 amp connectors,--- recall issues repaired at no charge to you--good luck

Gmc safari van cranks over, but will not fire up or start.Have tried starter fluid and still no start. Has plenty of crank,but no start

I had the same problem with my 2000 GMC Safari two years ago....drove me CRAZY!

Sometimes it would start right up...other times it just would crank and not start.

It turned out to be a cracked coil....I found it by using a spray bottle with water in it, and "misting" the engine, at night....with the engine running. (On a night when it DID start!)

It took a while, but finally the hairline crack let in some water and the electrical short showed by a spark coming out of the coil.

I replaced the coil with a new one, and it has never "not started" since.

Evidently the coil cover gets brittle and develops small, hairline cracks due to heat from the engine. the way....I tested the coil it showed that it was fine!....but it took the "misting" at the find the spark "leaking" out.
