Hello. I used to work in a GM dealer. It is seldom the EGR valve that is the problem. If it is code P1404, the problem is a PCM calibration. Take it to a local dealer and they can reflash the PCM. If you want to get technical about it, the PCM is and emission control device and should be covered by warranty for 8 years or 80,000 miles.

remove coolant.remove thermostat remove bottom radiator hose to water pump.put a empty container under the radiator.take a water hose put it where thermostat goes flush out the rust in block.watch the water as it come out the water pump .if stream water is small keep flushing until you get a study sream of clear water. also flush out radiator. lower water pressure dont flush radiator it with high water pressure you could burst it. make clean the over flow jug .make sure it not stopped up.put in a new thermostat and radiator pressure cap. fill radiator with half antifreeze and half water.bleed the coolant system.

2001 aztek heater location?


This may sound like a very good answer but if you google "where is the heater location on a 2001 pontiac aztek" they will actually give you pictures and diagrams of the location in the engine showing exactly what you want and need to see.I have used this when locating my O2 sensor .Hope this helps!! it should be near the top of the engine follow both heater hoses until you see a connector with lines and wires on it..

open the driver side door there should be a panel right inside the door crease. if not they are up under the dash It's been so long since we sold our aztek I don't remember exactly but one of those two locations.
