My 1988 honda accord dx wont start.we thought it was the ignition switch bu

The most common fault with most Honda vehicles around that age is the fuel pump/ignition relay. It is located under the dash on the drivers side. An easy test is to take it from its bracket and give it several good taps while trying to start the car. Or temporarily swap it from a know working vehicle.
Another check is to turn on the car and listen for the fuel pump, or check to see if there is fuel flow.

The relay can be replaced or in some cases the relays inside the housing can be replaced. The bracket on yours may be slightly different from the picture below.

That being said, there are litteraly dozens of reasons why your honda might not start. Some more information on what you have tried already would be useful.

Honda Accord 1999 year does not start engine.

faulty connection on the fuse circuit board ,ask a mechanic with expeiance to have a look and run the power direct without running through then fuse board ,direct from battery to the ignition switch or whatever what you are asking doesnt make sense unless their is a fuel pump relay under the dash ,iam not a dealer fitter so i dont know the layout of every vehicle made iam just a backstreet cowboy who can bodge anything

I have a 93 honda accord and if i start it up after it sits for a long time its runs fine for a while and then it shut off i have to wait a few mins and it starts back up I've replaced the spark plugs fuel...

I would take this vehicle to your local auto repair service garage that services Hondas and ask to have the engine analyzed.

There's a good chance that they can find what is wrong with your vehicle, without putting a lot of 'parts' on the vehicle.

Ideally, the dealership for Honda should perform the work, if they work on Hondas that old

I wish you luck on this.

Trying to locate my fuel pump cut-off relay

On a 90 accord its located under the dash near the fuse box. I am not 100% sure that the prelude is the same. On the accord it has 8 terminals and it was kinda difficult to get to. Honda is pretty good at placing things on different makes in the same location.

1988 Honda won't start

the problem is most likely the fuel pump has seized up, the reason for this is when u run out of gas the pump which uses the gas around it to cool gets very hot and the bearings seize up, get this kink of complaint all the time on fixya.
