check the air cleaner and replace if necessary. ( low air volume = rich mixture ). Check/clean exhaust system as back pressure may be too high at high rpm's. Check fuel quality and do not use e-mix fuels.
i would say you are spot on ,it is a bad ground ,so take a bit of time and check and clean all grounds and also check the ground from the engine to the body as i would suspect this as the problem.,adrian,,,,
no the configuration is much different to the bolt pattern and they are also balance differently as well. You can not mis match these or improvise there fit what so ever or internal engine damage will occur
It may be a dirty air cleaner or a dirty Idle Airflow Valve . The IAC can be cleaned by taking off the duct work that goes from the air assembly to the fuel injector hole. The valve is to one of the sides of the hole just inside. You will see two small holes. Buy some card cleaner and with your engine running at about 1300 rpm spray the cleaner directly into these holes. Spray for a good 10 seconds. Stop the engine and let the cleaner soak in. Repeat this about 4 times. If it still idles rough it may be the Idle position sensor or you have to replace the IAC.
yeah, eclipse/talon does have alot of problems with the IAC motor being no good, but by your description, it sound more like a vacuum leak, to trace for a vacuum leak isn't fun, check all your vac hoses for cracks just being so old, anything could happen, make sure your intake manifold is not leaking, that's what happened to mine, or the easiest way is to take the car to a shop that has a "smoke machine" what it does is put smoke into you intake manifold, where ever there is a leak, the smoke will finds it way out, make it alot easy to find vac leaks
WELL ON THE TALON AND ALOT OF OTHER CARS LIKE IT SOMETIMES IT WOULD BE BETTER TO RUN YOUR FAN TO A TOGGLE SWITCH ALSO WAT IT SOUNDS LIKE IS YOUR THERMOSTAT MIGHT BE GOING OUT AND IF THERE IS A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON YOU CAN TAKE IT TO ADVANCE AND THEY WILL DO A FREE DIAGNOSTICS FOR YOU
