SOURCE: 2000 nissan xterra wont start but will crankover

my truck didn't do the crazy idling so much but it was running a little rough before it finnally died. it just wouldn't start back up. i changed the fuel filter i could hear the fuel pump working i finnally pulled a spark plug out and realized it wasn't getting spark. after hooking a computer module up under the dash it told me that the camshaft position sensor was out. the sensor is integrated into the distributor therefore you have to change the distributor to replace the sensor. hope this helps some, i'm actually trying to fix mine tomarrow

SOURCE: 02 ultima troble codes u1000

These 2 codes indicate a communications problem within the CAN (Controller Area Network). The CAN network malfunction per Chilton lists 3 possible causes:

  • CAN connector is damaged or is disconnected
  • CAN communication line is open, shorted to ground or to power
  • One of the modules is shorted and pulling the CAN voltage low
I hope this helps narrow down your problem. Best of luck to you.

I got an U1001 in my 2003 1.8 Nissan sentra. What is this, and how can I solve it.

The U1000 and U1001 mean that there is no communication between the engine control unit and another control units that are part of the CAN system (Controller Area Network) or that at some point there was no communication. Before do any repairs with the U1000 and U1001 codes, the factory recommend repairing any other problems in the car. What are the other codes that you had? Here's a link to the code. What does code u1001 mean?

It's a communications problem between modules on the CANS system. U1000 is usually wiring/grounds, U1001 is usually a module. Any symptoms?

Bucking rough idle and coding (P0463, P0550, p0037 & U1001)

With that combination of codes I would suggest checking the grounds to see if any have come loose. The first three codes are related to fuel level, power steering pressure, and possibly an oxygen sensor. The U1001 code means that there is a communication issue within the electrical system concerning sensors. When the sensors aren't working together correctly it can cause multiple problems including misfiring and rough idling. Check the grounds first, if they are fine then I would recommend taking it to someone who can check the rest of the electrical system.

I have an engine code u1000 for my 2005 nissan altima. whats that mean?

basically that is a communication code between one or more computers

you need a dealer scan tool or something similar like the $8000 snap-on scanner to verify which computers are suspect and a DVOM to measure voltage on the communication circuits between the suspect computers

long story short.... this is a job for a select few technicians.... your best bet, depending on where you live.... is the dealer

No start cranks ok .trouble shoot code shows u1000 and u1001

Those codes are can communication codes that help each system talk to each other. You may find that it needs a new crank sensor. The 2.5 liter engine had some issues with crank sensors.
