SOURCE: volvo v70 air con fault

This is probably a clutch problem on the compressor, either buy a new clutch or get a second hand compressor and swap the clutch over.

SOURCE: My blower only works on setting 123 + air con not that cold

You have a resistor array assembly going out. What you described is typical of the first resistor going out and over loading the second, which goes out and overloads the third. Replace the HVAC resistor array. Don't buy a used one. Spend the extra money on the new OEM dealer item. Good luck to you.

check your auxillary fan. once the a/c is turned on, the fan should kick on, if not, check your fuses and relays. with the key off try to spin the fan and see if they turn. if not replace the fans.

SOURCE: 1998 mercury grand marquis heater

Either your heater control valve is not properly operating or your heater core is clogged. Locate the heater control valve under the hood, should be close to firewall on heater hose, have someone adjust temperature from hot to cold and see if you can see the heater control valve operating if so replace the heater core, if its not doing anything replace it(heater control valve).

Heard a belt break on my 1998 Hyundai Accent, but the engine didn't stop. What could it be?

you have torn an alternator, an air conditioning or power steering belt if equipped. check that the air conditioning works and gets cold if it used to and the power steering is not heavy if the car had it. if you broke an alternator belt your dash would be a christmas tree. if it had aircon and it doesnt work you need to look for your air con belt on the passenger side of the motor. if its not any of them something else has failed not applicable to any of them and it needs to be looked at asap.

Only reason the A/C cuts out would be low on Freon. Being that way, the compressor on the engine(belt driven) will shut off and back on when has gone thru a cycle. Have the system drained and vacuum cleaned for a couple of hours. Then refill to proper level and should be fine.

You may have freon in system but compressor won't engage unless it's full under pressure. By jumping the the relay you're doing damage to compressor by running on low pressure. Have system evacuated and recharged to proper amount of freon - usually 4 lbs of freon

Hi and welcome to FixYa!

You may want to start on replacing the ignition coil. If the ignition coil overheats it tends not to work that's why cooling it down makes it work again. Once replaced you'll be good.

Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa! Have a good one!

have you got an air lock in the cooling water? this can happen if the water level droped to far, it may just need bleading the air lock out first, look for a hose that is hight up (normaly above the top of rad) with a small plastic cap screw slot in it
fill car up with water,,unscrew cap and run motor till all air is out of coolent water,,, keep topping the water up till your finished bleeding it,,this could be why it never felt hot to tuch,,,and no heater working,,,
its full of air not water,,,,

hi,
seems like your air con relay has gone bad. that what happened to my ford xr6. you need to take to car to air con technicians, since it is not user serviceable.
