You could have a bad tire, or need a front end alignment, if neither of these is the problem have your upper and lower ball joints checked.

Yea hopefully its a simple fix, the truck was also sitting for a couple of weeks and I heard something about air in the power steering? Idk I know nothing about trucks. Hopefully the problem goes away I'm not in a position to fix anything. Hurricane Sandy has done a number on my life lol

Why won't key turn in ignition switch?

Before you do anything else. Check whether the gear shift is in neutral or park. If it still can't turn you may have to shift your gear shift several time.

Column shift? Check all linkage for binding and excess play. Grease linkage. When did you last change trans filter and fluid?

1994 Ford Ranger, turned into parking lot and downshifted to neutral. Felt like my clutch pedal softened and then could't shift into any gear without gears clashing. When I turn off engine I can shift...

look under your dash driverside at your clutch pedal and there should be an arm that goes through the firewall and to your pedal if it is disconected reconect it if not then check your clutch fluid

No shift indicator and truck will not turn over it has new battery and starter

Check the shift selector located on the side of the transmission,The truck won't crank if it doesn't know what gear it's in,since it will only crank in neutral or park.

Gear Shift not shifting properly

Depending on whether it is a column shift or floor, you have to get the linkage loose enough to get the car in neutral, move the selector back to the proper setting, and tighten everything up.

If the car is not setting on a hill or incline, you should be able to move the shift levers by hand when you've loosened the linkage and move it until it is in neutral. Put on jack stands and chock the wheels that are on the ground.

Engine will not turn over or start when in park with key on.

You linkage is working properly it sounds like, especially if the indicator for "D, R, N", etc are lining up. However the linkage or the neutral safety switch may need to be adjusted. More than likely, it's your neutral safety switch.

The brake pedal release has nothing to do with the neutral safety switch when switching gears.

The brake pedal release is just a safety to prevent you from pushing the gear shifter accidentally. Actually, you should be able to start the truck without holding the brakes.

If the neutral safety switch is bad or misaligned, it'll do exactly what you're describing. If pulling it down in neutral starts the truck, then that's a sure indicator.
