Question about Cars & Trucks

1 Answer

I this I blew the fuse

I just bought an aerogarden from america and I am in Australia. I didn't realize the power difference 115vac us to 240v aus and should have used a step-down transformer. When i plugged it in the pump worked then there was a pop and some smoke. The lights still work but the pump is broken and the led lights are broken. What can I do? Is it just the fuse? Aerogarden wont send us anything because I live in australia.

SOURCE: no brake lights, fuses keep blowing and wont shift out of park

I would look for a wiring short in the trunk at the taillamp area, or, inspect the sockets for the taillamp bulbs for corrosion. In any case, you have a short circuit in the trunk area, also check the wire that comes from the body & goes up the trunk hinge on the driver side; that wire may be chafed, and it may be shorting out. Hope this helps; please get back to me if you need any further assistance.

Sounds like a bad headlight switch. Pull one from a donor vehicle (junk yard) to replace yours.

Interior fan want work

First, check the fuse block for an open / blown fuse. You didn't provide the make & model of your car, so you'll have to find out which fuse is used for the fan. Replace any open / blown fuse found with the correct size as determined by the manual. If it still doesn't work, keep reading:

Many cars and trucks use what is called a "resistor pack" that is used to determine various preset speeds for the heater & A/C blower or fan. When you switch the fan from one speed or another, power is passed through a different value of the resistor - which changes the voltage to the fan motor. The different voltages provides different speeds.

The resistor pack is usually the problem if the fan works at one or more - but not all speeds. It can be the problem if the fan doesn't work at all either. The location of the resistor pack varies with vehicle make and model, but is often very close to the motor itself and accessible from the passenger compartment. Consulting with a employee at an auto parts store or Chilton's (or similar) auto repair manual should get you to the right spot. Resistor packs are relatively inexpensive at about $25 or less.

I hope this helps & good luck!

I have a 1985 nissan 300zx i installed the battery backwards, now the wipers, dash instruments, power light motors, and turn signals do not work

Check your fuses. You probably just blew a fuse. Worst case scenario would be your ECU is burned out, which is highly likely if the fuse didn't blow quick enough.

Why would you replace a fuse with the wrong amperage?

I will at least give you credit for knowing that was wrong
& could in some cases over heat & burn vehicle wiring

What was that going to do or prove?

Surely even with absolutely no vehicle knowledge
what so ever, you would would realize that you need
to have a shop check out or test the truck for short to ground,
poor grounding etc on the dome light & what ever gauge lighting
circuit issues you have

What is really sad, is the truck isn't very old & you want to
risk further issues with the fuse deal

Fuse box ford exbendition exl 1997

There are basically 4 fuse boxes (even though they are called differently) and wasn't sure which one you wanted so I gave you pictures of the locations as well as a layout diagram with description of fuses. This should be in your owners manual if you have one. If you do not and would like a copy you can email me at csautomotivecars@att.net with your make, model, year and what you're needing and I will be happy to email you a copy. I hope this helps and good luck.
