Yes very rare.To engine getting blown with so much less miles.I suggest the engine reinspected by another garage expert.

Yes it is your problem starter isn't engaging however you will need to have it replaced.Properly jack up car have two axle stands properly support the car with those in position.Disconnected the battery before attempting to start removal of starter.Now located the starter beside your oil pan with the positive battery terminal going to it and disconnect it along with the other solenoid wire.Now remove both starter housing bolts and pull out your starter.Be sure to make sure all wires and bolts are tight when you reinstall your used or manufactured starter from your choice of purchase.Merry Christmas.John

Yes its possible that fuel pressure is getting low or fuel filter is getting clogged or the O2 sensors are getting hot, O2 sensors when get weak, they get hot and loose communication with cars computer and due to that car stops controlling fuel and this can be problem.Also there are other possibilities like, faulty or dirty, IAC valve or dirty throttle body.Getting all this possibilities inspected, checked will point towards the cause of problem.--------- This should help.Thanks.Helpmech.

Just after Christmas, 2012, we warmed up our 2008

there is no limits to damage, nor Entropy.
you burned up that motor , by driving it overheated ,
if fact ,you boiled it dry and then ran it like an air cooled engine.
at the least the block and head are warped.(typ)

what you do is take it to any machine shop
and he will measure all the bores, and bearings, for wear and warpage.,etc, takes 5hrs labor , after apart.
with bore and micrometer gauges. (no short cuts)

then cracks, he will pressure check it all and metal check it,
to find all cracks.
if it is cracked, some can be welded.

as i said, its limitless, only mech. (true) or machinist
can do a full physical inspection, speculation on hidden damage
is fruit less, the above is typical.

next time, take that coolant gauge as a clear warning.
if it over heats , cut the ignition and correct the overheat.
be said to buy a new engine for the need of a $10 hose.
or a lose clamp, "FREE"

the timing belt will not have anything to do with the motor turning over trying to start. First make sure u do have a very strong battery. Could be a bad connection or a broken wire to starter also.

2006 AWD LINITED, 47000 miles 4 times in the four and a half years I owned this car it started very hard, turned over slow and stumbled to a start, garage kept, no engine light, no code, dealer checked...

A slow cranking condition can be caused by resistance in the ground or return portion of the cranking circuit. Check the voltage drop in the ground circuit as follows:
  1. Connect the multimeter positive lead to the starter motor housing (the connection must be clean and free of rust or grease). Connect the negative lead to the negative (-) battery terminal.
  1. Engage the remote starter switch and crank the engine. Read and record the voltage reading. The reading should be 0.2 volt or less.
  1. If the voltage drop is more than 0.2 volt, clean the negative cable connections at the battery, the body ground connections and the starter ground connection. Retest.
  1. If the voltage drop is greater than 0.2 volt, install a new cable. If the voltage reading is less than 0.2 volt and the engine still cranks slowly, install a new starter motor.

Wont start

Start by checking the battery connections. If they seem okay then, even though it may be pretty new, I would take the battery to the dealer and have them check it for an internal short in the battery. I had this happen 2 weeks after picking up a new car.
