The air vents on either side should just pop off. then there are a couple of screws over the radio, take them out and the faceplate should pop off also

I change the time on the clock but when I turn the motor off and restart, the time goes back to the original time. How do I get it to keep the time after I change it?

does cigarette lighter work you most likely have a blown fuse in the memory of clock it is part of the stereo but has 2 fuses that function it, power and memory. If its in the radio/clock all presets on radio usually go out to, look for blown fuse.

"air bag" light keeps coming on. goes away when I

Try wiggling the seat belt receptacle on the drivers side. If not you will need to take it to get the air bag codes pulled so we can look at whats going on. Try beeping the horn also. There is a wire that brakes sometimes behind the steering wheel called the clock spring this also works the horn circuit.

My cd player keeps turning on and off. and dash clock light keeps dimming in and out and wont keep the time.

You have a loose wire. Will require removing the radio to get to the wire that keeps constant power to the radio ,,,this allows the clock to keep time. An interuption in this power source equal reseting the clock. Good luck

I have a toyota 4runner 1997 the light from the clock sometimes goes out.How can I find out if it is the fuse

Dim, intermittent, and dead clock displays are very common problems with the 4runner (and many other clocks of this era). The clock is failing internally. I offer a repair service check out www.autoclockrepair.com let me know if I can assist.

My battery is new and after sitting a day or two it will drain to death i am trying to figure out where the short is

You need to place a test light in between the negative cable and the battery negative post. The test light is cheap, purchase one and remove the negative battery cable from the battery, place the clip of the test light to the negative post on the battery(I know it is a side post),You may need a helper.Take the tip of the test light to the negative battery cable end. With the key out of ignition, and the doors closed, make sure there are no hood light, take it out if needed. If the test light comes on,there is a draw on the system, uplug the alternator plug first to see if the light goes off,if so,replace the alternator,if not, open the door, and remove the dome light fuse, then start removing fuses one at a time, and putting them back after you remove them and watch the test light, when it goes out ,that is the circuit that is the problem,so,trace the fuse to what it goes to,,also, keep in mind, clocks are bad to do this, and clocks in the radio.

Battery keeps running down, what is the best way

The new alternator may have a closed regulator draining the battery, put a volt meter,or test light in line with the ground cable, remove the ground cable, and put the test light clip on the ground cable, and the tip of the test light to the negative battery post,or contact,it does not have a post,If it lights the test light, and it does not fade off, then there is a draw, unplug the alternator regulator plug, see if that turns the test light off,if it does, then the alternator is defective, then if need to continue testing, remove the interior light fuse, completly, and then pull one fuse at a time,to see if the test light goes off, when it does, that is the circuit that is drawing the battery down. The clocks will pull to many amps sometimes and cause this also,be sure to disconnect the battery over night to make sure the battery is good also,so you wont be doing all this for nothing, and you may want to have the battery load tested.

Battery keeps drainking. Will jump car and if turned off too long after driving it will drain the battery.

If your battery has any considerable age on it,( 2-5years), it could indicate a dead cell in the battery. If you installed an other than factory stereo then you could be getting drain there. If the battery is new, then check your battery terminal connections ensuring they are clean and tight. Also, check your battery cables to ensure they are tight at the engine block and at the starter. You might as well while you have the hood open, check the alternator connections for loose or corroded plug or fasteners.

Unstable electrics resulting in various problems.

Sounds like another VW made in Mexico.
Have the ECU checked for shorts, it sounds like it needs replacement.
Also check your vacuum hoses for leaks.
