Question about 1994 Ford Probe

1 Answer

1994 Ford Probe takes 2-3 seconds to move

When I am shifting into Drive, there is a 3-4 second delay before the car moves. Once I am in drive, the car operates fine. No stalling at stop signs. Only when I put car into Drive.

Bad News, your hydraulic pump on your transmission is wearing out. The only solution is a overhaul. I have a Subaru in the same condition, if you can live with it, do it. Just in case check the transmission fluid level.

My 90 ford probe lx will not drive unless i start it in second gear and will not shift in any gears when clutch is applied. Clutch master replaced and clutch. What else can be the problem???

See if your slave cylinder needs bleeding. Follow the line from the master cylinder down to the bell housing to find the slave. When clutch pedal is pressed, a rod on the slave should move outward just a little. It will move the clutch fork to engage the clutch.

I have a 1994 chevy Van G20 series it will go in reverse and in low gears but wont shift

Check your E-break first, secondly check to make sure you have no errors kicking from the control unit (engine computer module) which may or may not trigger a check engine light. Moreover it could be several things. Since it's an automatic the drive train maybe damaged, controller unite could be damaged, the transmission could (and probably) is dying. I'd have a professional mechanic check it out.

Transmission problems

It could be a sign of bad transmission solenoid. If so, your vehicle has trouble shifting into drive or reverse. Normally, when you start your car, you're able to shift into drive or reverse right away. With a bad transmission solenoid, the vehicle could have a delay of a few seconds, or even take several minutes to warm up and operate properly. During this delay, the vehicle will act similar to how it behaves in neutral. It won't stay in park, and when you press the gas pedal, the vehicle will make an engine revving noise but not move.

Check your ignition coils. One of mine was bad and when I replaced it, the shifting issue stopped.

Been having some transmission issue with my 2009 CRV. First off about a week after getting it, I started noticing every time i took my foot off of the accelerator it would downshift, sometimes quite...

I would leave it at the dealer until it meets your satisfaction. Also, don't take delivery of it ,until you drive it with the tech that worked on it,so he understands the issues.

I have a 1991 ford probe that will not shift in overdrive but will in drive but only from first to second

transmission, do it yourself or take to a REPUTABLE Transmission shop or Independent Repair Shop or even the Dealer. This is a common & fairly expensive repair. If you choose to do it yourself :

1)get a good Rebuilt Trans from good shop or Dealer
2) gather ALL tools & fluids, parts, equipment BEFORE you start
3) GET A BOOK
4) READ BOOK
5) fix, VERIFY repair
6) drive HAPPY

P.S. front axles can be a bear on those, good luck

duck tape on the air intake. I just fixed mine. There is a crack on the intake that lets too much air in when you put it in drive that makes the car stall. Try it it works.

Have you tried cleaning out your throttle body and plenum. That is a good quick fix for throttle responce. Especially the throttle body. They make some pretty good cleaning chemicals to do this.
