1762 has to do with too high or too low voltage from the governor pressure solenoid valve in the transmission.
To test this code accurately, you would need to have Chrysler connect their scan tool to it. With that, they can check the whole system.
The governor pressure sensor measures output pressure of the governor pressure solenoid valve. It is located in the governor body on the valve body transfer plate.
It is not very difficult to replace, i have a 1997 Jeep Grand cherokee with code 1762 - 83248769.gif

Don't listen to him you have a cloged govener switch. I work for jeep have a profesionall mechanic replaced the solinoid pack and the valve body and flush the trans flush and put in a new filter good luck it will be a lot cheeper than overhauling the trans.

Setting code 1762 on 98 jeep

best website help for this is at http://www.wjjeeps.com/speed_sensors.htm. I am doing the same thing. You will need to figure out if you have a 42RE tranny or a 45 RFE tranny. Best way will be to get under the car and look to see if you have an input and output sensor or just the output.

Good luck.
