you may have a bad set of splines either on the wiper transmission arm that the wiper arm attaches to or the splines in the wiper arm were it makes contact with the attaching point that you tighten.look closely as if these splines are bad it won`t matter how tight it is it will slip.you may have to get a new wiper arm(or used)or replace the wiper transmission depending what you find.assuming of course you mean the wiper will not move at the speed it should be compared to the other arm
Virtually all wiper arm systems have notches and grooves on the wiper arm and stud to keep them in place and make them move. If you take the arm that doesn't work off, you will probably find it has stripped, it is easy to do because they are only made of "white metal". Also check the head of the stud to see if it is stripped as well. If you are unsure, you can remove the side that works for comparison. The wiper arm and stud are available at the dealer and aren;t that hard to change by yourself. Hope this helps.
some wiper arms fit over a splined pivot post. When you tighten the nut down, the splines cut into the wiper arm thus holding it tight and keeping it from slipping on the post.
You may just need to tighten the wiper arm down r replace the wiper arm. Does it have a cover that you can rotae up and expse the nut?
Remove PLASTIC CAP at Pivot end of arm Remove THE NUT You SEE There USE HIGH GRADE LOCK-TIGHT on threds and Tighten the NUT there do this while wiper switch is off and Key is Off this will insure wipers are in there PARKED Position. this should Cure it Of Coming Loose anymore. UNLESS Arm is too Striped But I have done this repair on The Same Vehicle Many times and Have Yet to See one that Would NOT Retighten. If This Works for You PLEASE --RATE Me here on FixYa as Most Folks Do Not. Thank You And Hope it Will work for you as it Has for Me.
One side does not work? Can you move the arm with your hands? If so, look for a loose nut that holds the wiper arm on. Remove the plastic trim on the wiper arm base, and tighten the 12 millimeter bolt. Please advise if this helps.
