Question about 1988 Mitsubishi Mighty Max

1 Answer

Won't crank over,sust clicks,battery 12.4volts

Posted by on

1 Answer

12.4 is not enough

Any time you work on a car you need 12.5 or more
& have to charge or replace the battery if old or won't
charge.

The click could be the battery voltage or starter solenoid

When I turn on the key everything comes on but it won't start

check starter hot wire. runs to positive post of battery. If just clicking noise check battery posts. lights will still come on if battery has some connection but a starter take a lot of cranking amps. If that dont work try jumping it.

My 2005 nissan altima won't crank or turnover. It justs makes this clicking noise. Can you help me?

The click is most likely the starter solenoid you hear

Should be a familiar sound you've heard may times
on other cars

I would guess you know how old the battery is?

If it is original,it is 8 years old & dead,if so, replace it

If it is only 3 years old ,check the voltage with a meter

Next the solenoid could be working as you hear it,but
it's contacts are burnt,it can be replaced

You remove the starter & change the solenoid

Don't want to do that, buy the entire starter at auto parts,
not a dealer, cost too much to even be there for any reason.

2009 corolla hooked up jumper cable backwards, car won't start

TAKE OF BOTH CABLES AND GROUND THEM TOGETHER FOR 30 OR SO MINUTES, THIS WILL RESET THE CARS MEMORY, TEST VOLTAGE ON BATTERY WITH VOLT METER & IF IT IS BELOW 12.31V THEN CHARGE THE BATTERY , ONCE BATTERY CHARGED HOOK UP BATTERY LEADS (TO RIGHT TERMINALS) & ATTEMPT TO START CAR, IF ALL YOU GET IS A CLICK THEN LOCATE THE STARTER MOTOR & GIVE IT A FIRM WHACK WITH A HAMMER (SERIOUSLY) THIS WILL FREE UP THE STARTER & WILL ALLOW THE CAR TO CRANK

try locking your car with the key and unlocking it with the key, leave it for 30 second or so between the locking and unlocking , the car thinks some one has tampered with it

Car won't crank over, I'm told its the starter but

It can be the problem with battery or starter. The voltages to both battery and starter needs to be checked with meter. Also check for battery to starter wire terminals,if its getting loose, then it can be the problem. ------- For more detailed troubleshooting, click the link below:--- http://technoanswers.blogspot.com/2011/10/1998-chrysler-sebring-won-t-crank.html ---------- This should help.Thanks.Helpmech.
