Question about 2000 Oldsmobile Alero

Open Question

My alero acts like it wants to cut off while driving

While driving or sitting still it feels like my 2000 Oldsmobile Alero will start jumping and if you watch the tachometer you can see every time the car jumps it looses power. When you are getting up to speed or cruising at 55 mph it will still jump as if it is not getting power or gas to operate. If you take your foot off of the gas and then press the gas again directly after, the car will take off and go but until you do that it will keep jumping and cutting back loosing speed all the while. I've tried replacing plugs, wires, coil packs, etc...PLEASE if anyone has a suggestion or has seen this before please inform me!!!

I have a 1999 Oldsmobile Alero and my car was running rough and stalling. Also when the car was shifting, it was making a "thud" sound. My service engine light was on, so I took it to Autozone to run their diagnostic tool. It came back with code P0108 and they advised me to check my vacuum hoses as a possible solution. I looked and found that my air hose running from my throttle body to my map sensor was disconnected. I reconnected the hose and the engine ran normally and didn't make any "thud" sound when shifting. My car is back to normal. So check your hoses. If its still running rough, you may need to replace your map sensor.

SOURCE: 03 Oldsmobile alero vibration will running

I just had my fuel pump replaced on my 2003 Oldsmobile Alero 2.2 4 door sedan and I've been having problems with my car starting. When it finally turns over and starts it drives fine. Now it's been shutting off in the middle of driving. When it does this it starts right back up. Diagnostics reported: Bank 1 Sensor 1 02 Sensor Fault and Air valve high idle fault. Any suggestions?

This may be an antitheft issue. Common on older GM vehicles. Read thru this link and compare symptoms and warning signs.

Hello i have a 2000 oldsmoblie alero GL and its been sitting up for a couple of years it runs good but when i drive it it feels like the back wheels sounds like it something rattling in the trunk

either your shocks/struts or could be your brakes most likely from sitting so long. Have it checked out by a qualified mechanic and the issue should be found fairly quickly.
thank you,

My 2000 alero won't start. Everything turns on otherwise, power locks work, radio, etc. A jump didn't do anything for it.

Quits while driving replaced many suspected parts

try this, the next time it quits leave the key in on position and get a broom stick and go to the passenger side of the car. About straight in at the back of the door ,reach under with the broom stick and tap the plastic gas tank a few times, have someone try to start it or go start it yourself. Mine did this even after the garage checked it out and cleaned the tank. Come to find out dirt settles around the fuel pump and clogs it. They just blame the pump but in my case the pump was fine. I was told Alero used a very small fine mesh in the sock that goes in the fuel pump and they clog up. But most of the dirt was around the plastic guard around the fuel pump. See if this works and let us know. Good luck
