Why you change solenoids? Some first problem there? I suggest read this article: Jeep AW4 Diagnosis

Sound like a Torque Converter problem, but in additiona I post here some of the most common problems:
* Incorrect transmission fluid (cost: $50-60) - most common problem! (even in 2010)
* Computer needs retraining (try this as soon as you've changed the fluid)
* Solenoid pack (cost: about $60-$160 plus labor. Might be clogged and fixable.)
* Ground strap broken/missing - may be misdiagnosed as needing a new transmission and/or computer.
* Clogged hydraulic "brain" ($0 to $150)
* Bad input sensor (common) - "Can be seen on scan tool screen as input rpm -if it's 0, replace the sensor."
* Computer firmware needs upgrade (Chrysler dealer should do this for free but might run up to $200)
* Incorrect filter used in last fluid change
* Loose electrical connection
* Torque converter (see the bump shift section)
* Gear selector issues

Are your try cleaning the NSS (Neutral Safety Switch). Your fluid levesl are OK? Keep in mind that when the transmission overheats, the TCM shutsdown the OVERDRIVE to reduce the heat in the transmission. First thing I would do... is check the tranny fluid level. Then, maybe have the fluid and filter changed along with a flushing.

Is it never going into overdrive, or is it slipping out of overdrive? If it never goes, then it might be as suggested above. Whereas if it slips out of overdrive... could be another transmission solenoid (rare) or some adjust request. Sounds like the TCM or the Temperature Sensor is failed (included Thermostat).

Additionally, I quote other interesting commets:
After trying everything I could think of, I noticed that when the automatic locks failed to engage (at around 15mph) that's when the transmission would not shift into OD. So, now when the locks don't lock and the transmission doesn't shift to OD, I put the transmission in neutral and turn off the ignition and let it coast to a slow speed (see above caution). When I start the engine again and put the transmission back into drive, the locks engage and so does the OD. Works for me. I'm currently doing research on what causes the locks to engage automatically. I'm thinking it will be a vacum or a switch.

DTC P0733 - Gear 3 Incorrect Ratio.
DTC P0734 - Gear 4 Incorrect Ratio


Both codes are for the trans slipping; the trans is going bad and slipping. Theres not much that can be done from the outside. If you choose to fix it, id go with a good used to keep costs down.

First I suggest try changing the fluid and filter. Although the fluid may look like it is brand new, with 100K on the fluid, I can assure you that even if those miles were all highway at steady speed and no load that the fluid has deteriorated and no longer lubricating the internal parts properly and that there is some debris in the tranny. Also check valve body.

If codes return and shifting problems are still present, there is definite internal failure, possibly the pump or in the clutches. I have yet to see one with both these codes that wasn't either due to old fluid or internal damage

If it is a automatic it may be low on transmission fluid.If fluid is full smell it if it smells burnt you need a transmission rebuild.If stick shift you may need clutch adjusted or have broken synchronizers.

Shift - interlock system problem .
Automatic Transmission Shift Lock Control System
The automatic transmission shift lock control system is a safety device that prevents an inadvertent shift out of PARK when the engine is running. The driver must press the brake pedal before moving the shift lever out of PARK position. The system consists of the following components:
• The automatic transmission shift lock control solenoid
• The automatic transmission park lock solenoid
• The automatic transmission shift lock control switch
• The transmission range switch
With the ignition in the ON position, battery voltage is supplied to the automatic transmission shift lock control switch. The circuit continues through the normally-closed switch to the automatic transmission shift lock control solenoid. The transmission range switch provides a path to ground for the automatic transmission shift lock control solenoid in the PARK position. With the automatic transmission shift lock control solenoid energized the shift lever is mechanically locked in the PARK position. When the driver presses the brake pedal, the contacts in the automatic transmission shift lock control switch open, de-energizing the automatic transmission shift lock control solenoid. This allows the shift lever to move from the PARK position. When the shift lever is out of the PARK position the controlled ground contacts in the transmission range switch open. This prevents the automatic transmission shift lock solenoid from energizing when the vehicle is out of the PARK position.

Won't go into 4 low


Have you tried shifting the automatic transmission to neutral, or if manual transmission- place shift lever to neutral position, then shift the transfer case to neutral position wait a couple seconds then try shifting to 4 low- if you have manual hubs, engage those last. This removes most of the potential mechanical resistance that should allow for the transfer case to shift.

If it still will not go into 4 low you may be dealing with damaged teeth, bent shift dog or worn internal bearings inside the transfer case. As I recall, that was NOT a shift on the fly transfer case.

1987 benz 300 E is slow or doesnt want to go in drive when first started, it is an automatic transmission. what could be causing this?


Have you checked your fluid level? If it's too low on fluid, it won't shift gears, and if it does, it shifts very roughly. Or perhaps even your gear line could be bad.

Pickup starts great, goes into all gears but won't move. It's like it is still in nutural.


Assuming the pickup is an automatic, check the transmission fluid. The #1 cause for transmission slippage is lack of Automatic Transmission Fluid.

If the pickup is a standard shift, the pin that connects the shift to the transmission has likely broken. You would still be able to shift from the inside but the gears won't engage. A bad clutch is also a possibility but you would have noticed a burning smell prior to the clutch giving out.

Transmission will shift, but car won't move.


Hi, if it is an automatic transmission, it could be several things:
It could be really low on transmission fluid or the fluid may have leaked out. Do you see an reddish or reddish-brown fluid under the car? Check the fluid level by looking at the transmission fluid dipstick.
The torque converter (essentially a motion transfer device that resembles two fans facing each other) may be bad. As the engine spins, up, the fluid in the torque converter starts spinning and flowing and starts to 'spin' the blade on the transmissin side (it's called locking up the torqure converter). If there a malfunction in the converter, or no fluid, as noted above, no motion to the transmission.
Is the emergency brake stuck on?
Another issue might be the transmission linkage - when you move the shift handle to "D", there is a linkage that moves a lever on the transmission to change how fluid moves thru the transmission, etc. Check for a broken linkage between the bottom of the shift handle and the tranny. This is best done at a good auto repair shop or dealer.
If this is a manual transmission car, you probably have a worn out clutch plate or broken shift linkage. See a mechanic.

First thing to do is check the fluid level if that ok you may want to think about having the transmission filter and fluid changed, there are other possibilities but check these first
