Question about Cars & Trucks
1986 f150 truck shut off after turning off the hiway replaced fuel pump in the front tank. Truck drove out of garage idled fine shut off when trying to give gas. Replace fuel filter and relay switch now it will not stay running seems like when it warms up the truck dies. You can hear the fuel pump when cold and you start it can not hear pump when the truck has been started a few times and there is no pressure in the fuel line.
Does it run good using the back tank?if so then the fuel line may be clogged in the front tank.Need to blow it out and check for leaks.

SOURCE: truck runs rough
Sounds like one of your chambers isn't firing. Run your car for a few minutes, shut it off then pull your plugs one at a time and see if one of them is wet. Might just need a new plug.

get a code reader like the Actron CP9015 Code Scanner, 20 dollars and will flash codes. if it will not diagnose itself, the ecm must be replaced. this fixed my dads truck with the same problem

I would check the oil pressure of the engine. The reason is the timing chain tensioners are run with oil pressrue. I think your timing chain tensioners are leaking down when engine is getting to operating tempature . The oil is thinning down as warms up , as it should to lubercate . I would check compression and do a cylinder leak down test on all the cylinders. Then if the compression is good and the cylinder leak down is good. I would change all the timing components, ( chain, timing gears, timing chain tensioners )
Good Luck , I hope this helps.

Replace the fuel pump relay. And if your truck has dual tanks there's three fuel pumps, one in each tank and another secondary fuel pump.
