Question about 2003 Ford Windstar

Clicking from relays when using rear a/c controler

I have a 2003 windstar and when you turn the front a/c controler to the option for the rear a/c controler it starts clicking from the relays. you can hear it clicking from the relays under the dash and the relays that are in the drivers rear quarter panel. the dome lights also flicker with the clicking. and the blower motor comes on and off with the clicking. if you use the front a/c controler to control the blower for the rear then it works fine and no clicking

You need to identify that relay and replace it, This should solve it.

Well it is one of them that is is faulty, not all of them, probably it is short cutting that is why you can hear all four of them as they try to control voltage flow. Get one similar and replace one by one. Should solve the problem.

Where is the fuse for a 2003 wind star rear windshield defroster located?

The fuse panel is located below and to the left of the steering wheel by the brake pedal. Remove the panel cover to access the fuses. Check the Relay 5 for Rear Defrost Relay (page 159).

The front heat selector for my 2003 windstar does not work, it is loose and all I get is cold air, the rear heating works fine.

I have a similar problem with my 2000 Windstar. Mine makes a clicking noise/thumping noise when I move the temp. control. I was told it is the "Blend Door Acutator" which makes sense. The little actuator must have a stripped gear, and is not working as it should. I am in the process of removing mine to get at the "blend door" to try to set it to the heat side for now. It is not above the radio as someone had suggested, mine is located in back of the radio.

You need a blend door actuator. It's located behind the radio and a/c control head.
