Heater blower's not working for 1992 honda accord

The blower's been working off and on a few months ago. but for the past few months it hasn't come on at all. so there's no heat, no a/c, no defrost. i can deal with no a/c but in the winter the defrost is pretty essential. was told after checkin the fuses that the transistor would be the next thing to check before actually replacing the blower motor.

There is no transistor. since your fan doesn't work at all most likely it is the motor. if it was the Resistor it would only work on high.

My heat and air blower will not turn on it just stopped a few days ago which means my defroster doesn't work... how do I fix this?

The fan, which is the "air blower" for heat and A/C sits on its end in the heater box which is just above your front passenger's feet. It could be bad if it is not running when you turn on the fan switch. These cost about 50 bucks and are available at any parts store. Fairly easy to replace, disconnect the wiring plug, back out some screws, vacuum out the hole, reinstall in reverse order. Note some trouble shooting should be done to eliminate fuse and switch as bad guys.

hi ,look under your dash near the blower and find a 4 or 5 wire plug going in near the blower, unplug it and remove the screws holding it in place ,pull it out ,it will be about half a cigarette packet in size when youve got it out in your hand ,this is most likely your problem part ,its a heater resistor ,it controls your fan speeds,it should be a white chalky resistor or an alloy heat sink type ,they come in 2 ways as i've stated, phone a ford specialist junkyard or auto wrecker or a new ford dealer and give them the part number it has on it and your thunderbird specs or ID numbers and you should be able to locate a replacement without too much bother .

I'm afraid you have the deluxe system,my friend. It has 2 electronic circuit boards that may be going bad. Very expensive unless you can find used or aftermarket.
I hope it's just the blower motor, but I had the other thing happen and I had to wire around it,losing my AUTO temp and blower control. don-ohio

The 'whirring' sound from the blower motor could be a dry bearing or damaged armature (part of blower motor that the brushes ride on), or just wore brushes. The smell could be the motor winding wires burning due to blower motor bogging down and overheating. You can replace blower motor with new or salvaged one.

check to see if there is a resistor on the blower motor. it should be located either beside or underneath the blower motor.. if that is bad it wont let you select different fan speed settings and if it goes completely out the blower will not work at all.

Blower motor control module probably , but without testing that's just a guess . Do you know how to do automotive electrical testing ? Testing B+ to the module ? Do you know where the module is ? You can find a wiring diagram here , There is a fuse for the blower motor in the I/P fuse box , HVAC blower 10amp ,

Blower motor stopped working

It seems a little high but do not know the labor charges in the area you live. No way to tell if you have rear heat and yes that would affect the price.
Sorry about your husband, good luck.
