Remove the drain plug and remove some of the oil. It will be messy, but there's no way around it. Make sure she checks the oil level after draining to get to the right level before driving.

SOURCE: Added 3 quarts of oil now white smoke is coming from exhaust

you have to drain the excess oil i would suggest a complete oil change and oil filter. TAke off spark plugs put some wd 40 on each sparkplug hole start the car without any sparkplugs on ir. Reolace sparkplugs with new ones and the car should run again. I would also suggest to check for faulty sparkplug wires and bad air filter. While you are at it go ahead and check fuel filters.

SOURCE: Engine runs fine it blows white smoke out of

This is symptoms of a blown head gasket.
White smoke is antifreeze burning in the combustion phase.
Oil is also seeping through and being eliminated in the same manner.
Check your tailpipe for oil. Also - check your oil. If it is brown/milky instead of black - you have a head gasket failure or cracked block/cylinder.
Check the coolant quality too. Floating oil or a brown murk - means the same.

Good luck!!

SOURCE: Overheating still has coolant, white part blew out

  • White smoke out out the tail pipe means you might have just blown your head gasket. White smoke is water (antifreeze) burning with the oil.

I overfilled my 07 525i with oil and now the car is smoking heavy white smoke out the tail pipe and shaking, could I have damaged my car and what should I do?

drain the oil and refill to much oil is not good for seals a could produce to much pressure when the car is running which could blow seals and have them start to leak

Oil overfill

Not for 1/2 quart
If it is up on the dip stick more than 1/8" over full
I would loosen the drain plug & let some out
1" above full is at least a quart or more & yes
let some out

Blowing white smoke out of exhast

This problem is caused by a leaking cylinder head gasket which allows coolant into the engine cylinders where it is being vaporized, then the vaporized coolant comes out as white smoke.

I just bought a 1999 mitsubishi sport limited suv, i bought it because of how clean the motor was and it ran very well. It didn't blow out any blue smoke out the tail pipe when I first started it and even...

well if you checked the oil when its hot that would maybe explain the no oil. Did you try to drain the motor first then add new oil. make sure you didnt over fill the engine with oil as this will blow the seals. If you just bought it id take it back. In my state you have 7 days to back out of a contract. But if you added new oil Put cardboard under the vehicle then try to turn it on (only if you didnt overfill it.) then figure out where the leak is coming from. If you can diagnose the leak i can help you from there. If its not a leak and its burning the oil and since you say its blue smoke this is generally a sign of bad pistons or piston rings. If it were thick white youd know it was a headgasket. But id say first look for the leaking oil. If not check the combustion pressure of each cylinder. Find which cylinder is off factory spec and there will most likely lie your problem. here is a video showing a compression test if you dont know how.
Note* that not all of what he says in the video applys to you as he is talking of mg's but this is to show you how to do a compression test if you so choose.
if you need further assistance please let me know. I will be glad to assist you further.

Think I may have overfilled my oil in my Cadillac Deville 98. What would be the symptoms, and is it fixable?

usually no immediate symtoms, but it can cause oil to get past the piston rings, causing it to smoke,and/or blow oil seals in the engine.how much over is it?the space on the dipstick between ADD & FULL is about 1 quart.if its overfull by a quart or more, drain some out,or take it in for an oil change.they'll drain it all and fill it properly.

Blowing oil and smoke

When overfilled, how long before the level was drained back to normal, or was it? The problem with overfilling, is that the oil will 'foam' and not lubricate properly. This can result in serious engine damage. So, make sure it's at the proper level now, if it is, I believe the engine was damaged due to lack of proper lubrication. Wish I had better news. Good luck.

I have a 2004 Toyata Highlander that occasionally gets an oil overfill from the dealership. On the dipstick (after the car has been running) marks halfway between the full mark and the double cutouts...

Check the oil with the engine warm & off. An accidental overfill of 1/2 quart will not hurt the engine. BUT, 2-3 quarts overfull will result in issues, and I would recommend draining that overfill out. But, 1/2 quart is really nothing to worry about.
