Jeep was running had a miss. I noticed the fireing order on dist. was wrong. I wired it as 1-3-4-2 and now it won't even try to star. It justs backfire I put new spark plugs, thoroughly cleaned

Is it a fuel issue or a vaccume line issue or electrical. Right now i have all the guages and the dashboard unconnected cuz im needed a new speedometer. culd that be the problem my automatic choke is not working properly

SOURCE: backfire into intake

I'ts quite possible that your distributor is installed one tooth off and is too far advanced, causing the plug to fire before the intake valves are closed completely. Turn it one tooth counter-clockwise and try it again.

Check your fuel pressure, the regulator is on top right where the fuel lines connect to the fuel rail.

could it be your throttle sensor? If it is a carbureted engine, check the accelerator pump inside the carb.

SOURCE: order of spark plug wires

You didn't specify 2wd or 4wd, but it won't matter as it turns out they are the same. The firing order is 1-5-3-6-2-4. To see a diagram go to http://autorepair.about.com/library/firing_orders/bl-fo-4771.htm

Code 12 is battery having been disconnected. It sounds like you may have the firing order right but may be one tower off in the rotation. Sounds like engine timing is too far advanced. Remember, I'm not there so I can't see or hear what you can, but that's what it seems like.

1990 geo storm sohc is running rough. Parts that are new: cap, rotor, plugs wires, plugs, pickup coil, and the ignition module looks brand new. The coil is old, but is still sending spark through all the...

I would look into replacing the coil even though it is sending spark it might not be enough and I would go through and just double check all my wires as well as the firing order because if it's off just a little it will make the car run rough

1986 350 engine changed timing chain won't start on #1 but starts and runs great if i set roder facing #6 dist cap is there two firing orders for this engine ?

THERE IS ONLY ONE FIRING ORDER FOR THIS IT HAS BEEN THE SAME SINCE 1960??? 18436572 WITH NO1 IF YOU ARE STANDING STRAIGHT IN FRONT OF THE ENGINE YOUR HEI DIST SHOULD HAVE 2 PRONGS STRAIGHT ACCROSS FACING YOU IF IT IS NOT YOU MUST PULL THE DIST, ROTATE THE ENGINE AROUND TO COMPRESSION STROKE, VERIFY THIS BY THE POINTER ON THE TIMING COVER SET IT TO 0 WITH THE PISTON IN NO1 CYLINDER UP IF NO 1 PISTON IS NOT UP FULLY EXTENDED IN THE SPARK PLUG HOLE YOU ARE NOT AT NO 1
IF THE PISTON IS FULLY EXTENDED AND YOU HEARD A AIR SOUND THEN YOU ARE RIGHT, PLACE THE DIST BACK IN TURN THE ROTOR 1 TO 2 NOTCHES BACK TO THE RIGHT AND HAVE SOME ONE CRANK THE ENGINE IN SPURTS, IT SHOULD DROP IN, THEN REPEAT THE PROCESS TO VERIFY YOU ARE ACTUALLY ON NO1 THEN BEGIN THE WIRING

Need a wiring diagram for spark plugs for a 1995 jeep Cherokee sport

V6 engine: firing order: 1 2 3 4 5 6, distributor rotates clockwise. Left bank of engine (driver's side), cylinders 2, 4, 6 (#2 at front of engine). Right bank: 1, 3, 5 (#1 at front of engine).
Inline 6 engine: firing order is 1-5-3-6-2-4. Distributor rotates clockwise.
The number one tower on the dist. cap should have a mark or numeral 1 on it. If not, turn crankshaft to top dead center of compression stroke on number one cylinder, the 0 degrees or "T" mark on the crank pulley pointer. If you are on the compression stroke (not the exhaust stroke), the rotor under the dist. cap will be pointing to the number one cylinder spark plug wire tower.

I'm working with a 1994 4 cyl. 2.2L Camry. It suddenly started running rough. Like a bad miss. Replaced the plugs, wires, dist. cap and rotor button....no change. There is fire going to the plugs...

it may be an injector problem on that cylinder, the injector could be blocked or the wiring or connector is faulty.....hope this helps......cheers.

Had a miss so I changed my wires now it will barley run I need to know the order so I can see if I got them mixed up . It's a 79 304

Standing in front of the engine the cylinders are positioned as:

FIREWALL

8 7
6 5
4 3
2 1

RADIATOR

The firing order is 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2.

this is for a 1979= 304 engine, the rotor in dist. turns clockwise, #1 cylinder on cap is facing towards the front of engine. have a good day !!

Cannot start changing pugs and wires

Sounds like you have the firing order right but your off on the #1 on the distributer. Every time you get an explosion coming from the carb its misfiring. Find the #1 on dist and continue with firing order

Diagram for 91 jeep cherokee plug wires

For a 4 the firing order is 1234 front to back and the distributor fires clockwise. Find one and run wires from there.

For a 6 its 123456 front to back and is also clockwise.
