Question about 1997 Chevrolet Malibu
Replaced cylinder lock and theft system light came on and car won't start
Turn car on engine off, let set to on for 10 min.after 10 min, turn off for 15 seconds then try and start car. this should reset theft system. if not try again.

Un plug battery for a while to get the computer to reset. usally wrks and it doesn't cost any thing to try. keep it unplugged for about an hour or so maybe?

If the theft light is on there is a problem and a code set. You can try to do reset . Turn the key on , don't try an start the car . Let key on for 10 min. till the light goes out, if it goes out turn ignition off an wait a couple of min. then start the car
