A 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
The service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

Check ABS system for codes. I have an '03 Silverado and have a faulty EBCM( Electronic Brake Control Module, "ABS module"). Can't reset anything. Only replacement of EBCM will fix it. Incidentally, if you have to replace it, you can check on Ebay for a rebuilt unit. You shouldn't have an issue with your "base" braking system though, if this is the case. ABS is electronically controlled and with or without it, your brakes will still function. I hope this helps.

SOURCE: 04 Kia Sorento stuck in 4WD Low
Usually the vehicle needs to be stopped and in Nuetral. Flip switch to 4X4 HIGH firts. It should come off. If it does not, put in drive and start moving slowly. Once in 4X4 HIGH you should have no problems going back and forth from 4X2 and 4X4 HIGH.
It's not necessary to use the 4X4 LOW setting in a snow storm in my opinion. I only use it if I'm off road going up a really steep grade or if I'm hauling something heavy up a hill. I only used it once because I was hauling a 26 foot pontoon boat out of the water. I strongly recommend using 4X4 in a snow storm or on slippery surfaces since you will get much better traction.

SOURCE: KIA Sorento 4WD not enguaging
Always make sure that whenever you engage into and out of 4x4, your gear lever is on N and not P.
so to reset it in now, switch on your engine with the hand brake up. set the gear lever to N, turn the knob to 4x4 Hi... wait 10 secs....switch it back to 2Hi...wait 10 secs and then return the gear lever to P and it should be ok.
