You may still have air in system if it got too low. make sure fluid is up & move slow & crank wheels back & forth all the way one way, then the other, and repeat 5 or 6 times or until it quiets down. Check fluid every so often while doing it. Has been known to take 10-20 times but it should eventually go away, unless some damage was done by being too low, too long, but lets not go there yet.

Engine making whining noise

There are a couple of things to check. If your power steering pump is low on fluid, or a bad bearing is in the Alternator, they will whine. The PCV valve or any hole in the Vacuum lines will whine as RPM is increased. Even having the Air filter box not fully seated will make a whining noise.

Now both automatic and manual transmissions can whine as RPM is increased. Check fluid for each.

Serpetine belt and pulleys-can make noise.

Sometimes you can shift into neutral at any speed and the engine rpm will drop almost instantly as the car rolls at speed. If the problem disappears as soon as the rpm drops, then an engine part probably is the reason.

High pitched whinning sound at cold start, but lessens after driving and outside air temp increases.

I would check the idler pulleys on the belt first. Then maybe the alternator. If your battery is getting a little weak it could be working the alternator hard when you first start it up. I don't know how loud it is though. The alternator wouldn't be real noticeable but some people would hear it.

My 2003 Buick Regal makes a load whinning sound when I turn. WHat could be causing this?

Hi, it could be a wheel bearing. if you turn left and you hear it it will be your right front bearing and visa-versa. could be the power steering belt that needs replacing, good luck with it.

My jeep started whining yesterday whenI used my automatic start. after a couple of minutes it went away. today the same thing happened but it lasted the entire time I used the car (about 2 hours) sounded...

A noise like that is somewhat serious...It could be from low power steering fluid, low transmission fluid or even the starter remaining engaged. You need to find the source of the noise right away to avoid major damage!!!

A hummming/whinning noise starts when my 2007 chrysler runs on

At this point I guess anything is possible as well as a few other things such as tires. Have you checked to make sure all tire pressures are as required, and tires are in good shape, as well as have you had tires rotated in the last while? Just booting around town or city wouldn't cause tires to heat up as much as steady highway driving where they will increase in pressure from the heat, and perhaps start running on the road differently as far as tread on surface goes. It might be smart to have tires & belts inspected. Stop at a couple of places to see if they both agree as to condition.
