The fuel tank on a car typically looks something like a strange rectangular box. Go to the repair shop.

SOURCE: 1978 Chevy 1/2 ton Truck - fuel is not getting to

On the front of the carburetor where the fuel line comes in is the fuel filter.Did you change that?Take off that line and slip the end into a container, coffee can size.Have a friend turn over the motor, watch for fuel.If you get fuel your needle and seat have seized in the closed position. No fuel check the rubber lines that hook to the fuel pump. You replaced the pump,it's only $2 worth of rubber hoses. If they don't seal the pump can't pull the fuel,it's cheap insurance.

SOURCE: 1982 chevy truck with dual gas tanks with guage or tank problems

all you need to do is listen to hear the tank switching valve is working. It will make a soft noise under the rear cab section with the key on with the engine off. zif you do hear it sounding the switch your tank unit for that one tank you try to switch to is a fault. Sorry no illustrated diagrams are on hand, just knowledge

1995 f350 gas motor died and won't run when I switched fuel tanks? Selector valve or fuel pump? Can I bypass selector valve?

Very inexpensive part, recommend replacing the fuel switch valve. You can buy it at any local auto parts store. If you choose not to, you could replace with a plastic t-fitting but then it would draw from either tank at any time, not recommended.

I've been told the fuel tank selector switch (in the cab) is bad on my 79 Ford E150 van. I have a new 2-pole switch, but since nothing is labeled I have no idea where to attach the wires from the old to...

yes these dash switches have allways been a problem the best way is to replace it with correct one from autoparts store but i usually replace tank selector valve at same time (there both about due) shield your eyes when dealing with this device as gas sprays out when removing it
a note : observe fuel level while driving on both switch posisitions the faulty one will indicate No fuel level when you know you got gas in both tanks

Were is fuse for brake lights located at not well marked 1978 chevy truck scottsdale cannot find fuse

Since all your fuses are in one place under the dash, you can use a test light and probe each end of every fuse with a test light in under ten minutes. Likely much faster than looking for a diagram. Also use the test light to check voltage at the brake switch and at the lights themselves. I'd definitely make sure the socket shells are properly grounded on anything that old as well.
If I remember correctly, the brake lights are routed through the turn signal switch on those so if you can't find the problem I'd look there as well.

I took the fuel selector of cause i only want to one tank but now my sendind unit isnt working for the main tank .Cant figure out why i just thought they switch tanks and the sending unit for the main tank...

The fuel selector shifts the curcuitry to read the fuel and turn on the pump. if there is a auxullary harnes like a y, you nest jus upplug it and leave the main harness to the main tank,. If you cit wires you wull have problems undoing the changes.

1985 CHEVY TRUCK NO FUEL FROM EITHER TANK

sounds like the fuel tank selector valve is bad, it should be located between the fuel tanks.could just be a wire off so you might want to give it a close check before buying one. and as long as you are under the vehicle you might want to check that it is getting electrical power to the valve/switch.

When I switch from my front fuel tank to my rear tank gas stops

There is no selector valve on a 1995 ford f150 300 engine. The selector switch on the dash sends power to the pump in the selected tank. The pump then sends fuel to the engine. If engine won't run on the selected switch, the pump in that tank needs replaced.
