Heater blower

You may have debris trapped inside the blower wheel, causing noise and poor air flow. Remove blower motor to inspect, and clean out as nec.

Hey Tbird, here's a link to the blower motor, right by the blower motor is the blower motor resistor, you might want to check this first,if they go out then blower motor won't work, you can straight wire blower to see if works,if it doesn't then try resister, here's what it looks like.

Heater just stopped working

I'm guessing you mean that the blower motor has stopped? No more fan right? Has it ceased to function at all fan speeds? If so, the blower motor has probably gone bad. Check the fuse for it first though. Then get a test light or a multimeter so you can check for power at the blower motor connector. On most Subaru's I've worked on, the blower motors are actually relatively easy to access. You should find it beneath and behind the glove box on the passenger side. You can slide the passenger seat all the way back, and lay upside down with your head on the floorboard and look up to get a good look at it. It'll be put in with just 3-4 screws holding it into the duct system. You can pull the connector off, and see if it gets power when the car and heater are both turned on. If you get power at the connector, but the motor doesn't turn, then you have found your problem.

The blower motor in my Subaru Impreza quit on me at about 160K miles, but I was able to get it going again by disassembling it and cleaning all dust out of the brushes and commutator. It was not really designed to be serviced however, but it worked out alright for me. Even if you have to replace it, you save a lot by doing it yourself.

Subaru a/c and heater fan doesn't work

You could have a blown fuse, bad relay, bad blower motor resistor pack, or just a bad blower motor. Start with checking your fuse to make sure you have power to you blower motor.

1995 Subaru Impreza wagon - heater fan

Mine use to work on high only. It was the switch cylinders, something like that. It was an easy fix. Now my blower motor works intermittently. If I kick it, it turns back on. It is located on the passenger side close to the door side directly above your feet (below the jockey box). Kick straight up. If you need to replace it it is also an easy do-it-yourself repair. Make sure before you go out and replace your blower motor that you check your switch. A lot of repair shops will replace the motor w/o checking the switch, you end up paying for 2 repairs. You can make sure it's not the switch by jumping (bypassing) the switch. You apply jumper wires (not cables) directly to the motor, if the motor turns on you know it's the switch.
