SOURCE: Starter won't start on 86 buick regal FI 3.8 L already replaced starter & verified all fuses ??

If you remove the starter you can use a pair of jumper cables to see if it is bad . Just hook cables to car battery ( car not running ) and touch ground to casing on starter and the hot to post . If it turns the torque will cause it to want to move if not secured .

How do i take the slack out of my timing chain on my 98 Nissan 200sx? i already replaced the upper chain tensioner it was worn to the metal.

can't take the slack out of a stretched chained if you already replaced just the tensioner

did you also look at the other timing chain guides?!? they're plastic covered as well & will eventually wear out in time

What makes the fan belts squeal?

New belts need to be readjusted as they stretch unless you have a spring loaded belt tensioner.

Ford focus 1999 1600 poor engine running misfires at about 2500/3000/then cuts out starts straight away for a short time then does it again already had tank out and checked inside replaced plugs and leads...

Sounds like its time for a new timing belt and its idler pulley. The old belt has more than likely slipped a notch or two. Ford suggests they get replaced at 75000 to 80000 miles. Replacing the timing belt is an extremely difficult task. If its not lined up correctly engine failure will result. Could also be a vacuum leak. Check all vacuum lines paying particular attention to vacuum lines running from the intake manifold and on the throttle body. Check the vacuum line under the throttle body. Any vacuum line (rubber) that turns your fingers pitch black with a light touch has or is about to fail.

Is 80000 miles the correct mileage for changing the timing belt(or chain} on a 2006 kia sedona lx v6 van? thanks

The 3.8 liter in the 2006 actually has a timing chain not a belt. So the chain doesn't need to replace what you may run into down the road is the tensioners having a problem as their is basically 3 chains in that engine. I would still take chains over belts any day though.
thank you and enjoy,

Will not open fully, only 3/4 of the way

There are 4 elastic bands inside the top that pull certain roof support bars back...much like a set of vertical blinds that need all slats moving together at the same angle. If the elastic bands are stretched & worn out... a bar going across the roof (side-to-side) stays forward and does not let the roof go back. This happened to mine. My mechanic taught me how to do the manual procedure (also in the owner's manual) but I also had to move that bar myself toward the back of the car in order for it to fold down back in it's bay. I took it to the dealer and he had an upholstery guy reach in and replace the 2 outer elastic bands for a nominal fee. He could not replace the 2 middle elastic bands without tearing the roof material apart. But the top works fine for now. He said it should last about a year or so before the bands stretch out again. He also said to put the top up and down at least once every 2 weeks to keep it functioning properly. When the top is up (over you head) the bands are fully stretched.... they are relaxed when the top is down.

Is there a maintainance need to replace timing belt on a mitsubishi colt after so many miles???

I usually recommend to people I do work for that its always best to follow the manufacturers recommendations but there are some that feel that if the belt looks fine with no cracks or tears then leave it on.But if you car is running rough then its very possible that the belt could have stretched. So the belt might look fine in appearance but in reality it could be stretched. Most recommend that it is between 60000 and 80000 miles.Be sure to read your owners manual for what mileage they recommend it be changed at.

Timing belts stretch they just snap.If the leading side was installed loose the belt could have jumped. Also check the timing belt pulley keyway
