A buzzing noise from your heater could be from a transformer or a relay or from the motor (which could mean a problem.) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------

My Winshield Defrost Quit Working. Heater, AC, and vents all working except the windshield defrost.

I'd have to check actuator movement for defrost. The actuator is electric according to my database. The actuator should be under dash at end of hvac housing.

Why does my heater only blow hot air?

if only blows hot from defrost location only, then there is a vaccum leak from intake manifold to the selector switch. or the vaccum selector switch is defective. if it is a electric selector switch then the mode door is broken, common issue. when the truck if first started, is there a repetive clicking noise? if so then it would be the mode door being broken, warrenting having to remove the dash and recovering of the air conditioning refridgerent, or freon, r-12, or r-134a as this year is R-134a, draining coolant as heatercore needs removed, and removing the entire heating and airconditioning unit, located behind dash on passanger side, disasembling and replacing door. if clicking noise is pressent and time and money, and certified air conditioning mechanic not available, then finding the mode door actuator, or electric motor that turns the door, and unplugging it will cause the noise to stop, but forever have no airconditioning, as default location is defrost. if able to select from defrost to panel or floor location but heat only, then blend door is broke. i believe mode and blend door are same part number, but might not.
also check for recalls and tsb's, or technical service bullitions, as might help fix it. recalls are free, and tsb's are only to help you diagnose the problem, and you would have to pay to have fixed or fix yourself, but having to evacuate and recharge air conditioning system and haveing to have the special tools to remove ac lines it may be a job best suited for a professional. Not blowing air to defrost. Blowing everywhere else. I changed directional switch. Works now just won't blow up to dash

You have one of two problems most likely... either you have a faulty heater control (very likely if you have digital/electronic controls), or a bad actuator motor. You do not specify your make/model/year or if there are any noises or oddly functioning switches, so it is hard to be any more specific with an answer.

Hope this helps,

Have 2003 Explorer that when turning on heater get a tapping or flapping noise

that noise you are hearing is the blend door motor. A blend door motor switches from heat to a/c and what vent to blow it out of. it is located on the heater box under the dash

Defrost, heater, vent switch isn't switching the control to a differnt source

There is a small vacuum hose that runs along the front of the throttle body.Usually gets brittle and brakes .This runs to the passenger side of the firewall this goes to the heater box.without vacuum the valve under the dash can not switch.I hope this helps

Lights or fuse for my speed odemeter guage and heater/air conditioning system

These lights for the dash are controlled by a rheostat instrument control dimmer switch next to the main light switch for the headlights, it is either turned off (have seen this dozens of times) or it is defective. Below is a picture of the switch assembly I speak of. The thumb wheel next to the knob is the dimmer control.

Heater clicking noise in gmc envoy

Do you hear a clicking noise when you turn your truck on? Its probably the actuator. While the defroster was on I removed the fuse locted under the rear driver side seat. I think its 36B. It stopped the clicking noise and my air vents work well now.

Heater vent won't switch from cold to hot. the heater core hoses are both hot and there is a dull thumping noise under the dash like a vacume switch is jammed

probably something feel down the defroster vent, have a helper check the vacuum motors as you switch from heat to cold, that should tell you wich one is jammed

When i have the heater/defroster on the heater below blows cold air while the defrost blows hot. when i switch to just defrost the bottom heater stays on and blows cold air. when i have front dash and...

It sounds like you have a blend air door stuck. This is in the housing of the heater a/c blower unit under the passenger side of the dash. There is a motor on the top of the housing that could possibly be stuck or on working.
